Elvie pump

As a pregnant woman I am targeted for so many ads and, now that I’ve started following lots of mummy bloggers and influencers, I feel targeted even more!

No product has been rammed down my throat more than the Elvie breast bump. It is literally suggested to me daily. So I wanted to know, is it as good as these bloggers say it is? Any second time mums able to share their genuine experience?

I was tempted but this but been really put off by bloggers such as lily Pebbles - she breastfed for less than two months so must have barely used the pump yet now running adverts and saying how amazing it is - makes me v much doubt the genuine nature of the other reviews it has!!

Like @Chocolateandwineplease27 the only people iv seen RAVING over it either EBF (pumped maybe once a month) or Exclusively pumped and there is no way you could do it with that!

I did watch a youtuber in america who said it was absolutely rubbish and she bought 2!!

I think a Hakka would get more! 🥴

I'm following! In the same boat.

I've done a bit of research on it. It seems to be ok but the biggest criticism has been about the suction power and it not being as strong as competitors. Just like with all breasts pumps, it'll depend on your nipple/breast and the apparatus itself.

The main reason I wanted Elvie was because it would enable me to feed and pump at the same time.

Cookit · 26/07/2019 19:56

I looked into it and then realised that the only reason I was doing so was because I was being taken in by all the influencers on Instagram.
I could find some genuine reviews which seemed to suggest it was a great idea but the current model has flaws and about a million biased reviews.

My advice would be to think about what you really need a pump for - which you may not know yet. If it’s because you are struggling with feeding and need to pump a lot a hospital grade and/or double pump is probably what you need. I don’t think the Elvie is particularly efficient.

If you will rarely pump and it’s just to get a small stash look into the Hakaa.

If you need to pump discreetly whilst doing other things like working from home/ speaking on the phone, driving etc then maybe the Elvie is a good idea.

@Jokie try a Hakka!

I have one crazy middle of the night feeding buy. It's definitely not the most efficient (had a pump with DC1 that needed to be plugged in and held against breast etc) but it has been great for pumping with a toddler to look after too. I could pump and make breakfast for the toddler/play/dash to get the potty at the same time. DC2 is now nearly 9 months old and I'm definitely not getting much milk when I pump now but not sure if it's the Elvie or just my boobs now supply has settled down. There's no way I could have pumped without it though. It's also really handy to take with me on the odd occasion I go out. But it's expensive. I'd wait and see.

I just googled Haakaa (never heard of one) as I am hoping to express in the hope that this baby might take a bottle as well as a boob. They are on sale at the moment from this website: www.greengroupcollective.co.uk/collections/haakaa
I’ll need about 9 weeks until I can offer a verdict!!

NewMama2Be · 26/07/2019 23:05

Thanks for sharing that link @figuringitout
I'd been looking at the Haakaa online and just got it for half the price on that site 🤗

Jokie · 27/07/2019 07:54

@HJWT : yes! I've got a Haakaa this time as well ;-) I bought it in the sale

HJWT · 27/07/2019 13:44

@Figuringitout my sister used a Haaka ! She used it through the day and gave the baby a bottle in the night to make sleep a bit easier ☺️ thanks for the link also ordered from it 👍🏻
