Breathless 17 weeks?

This happened yesterday, so it might be heat related.

I do a lot of public speaking and I'm usually quite good at it.

But yesterday I kept getting extremely breathless when standing up and speaking to a room full of people. I'm not sure if it was the heat or the breathing/projecting to speak, or the standing.

I'm seeing the MW next week so I'll talk to her about it, but has this happened to anyone else at 17 weeks? It was a bit unnerving.

I’d forgotten completely but reading this reminded me that yes I did get this quite early on in my first pg. it wasn’t anything serious, I think I googled it and it said changes in blood flow caused it (I might not have remembered that right). I’d definitely mention it to the MW. Can you call them to put your mind at rest?

I saw a consultant about this at about 20 weeks as was really struggling! She said that progesterone can cause it- and that it should pass!! Sadly baby moved up into my ribs not long after so it’s never gone away but you might be luckier! Take it easy!!

Can be a sign of low iron too. It does no harm to take a low dose (it's sold over the counter as spatone), but mention it to the midwife!

I'd also forgotten about this but I was really struggling at 18 weeks (and it was spring so not heat related). I have asthma and remember having to take my blue inhaler out with me and take it in public (which I hate doing). I did some research and read that baby is still getting plenty of oxygen so not to worry but to drink plenty of water and pace yourself.

Thank you all - it's reassuring to know it's not just me.

I do fairly big speaking events about once a week so I very much hope I can find a way around it.
