C section help.

I saw my consultant yesterday who advised my c section must be done at 38 weeks due to being very high risk due to complications in my sons birth. I’m currently 36+3 weeks. Previously saw a different consultant at 16 weeks who was adamant 39 weeks would be fine and it would be booked at 36 week appointment.
So yesterday, my consultant goes to book the c section only to discover they are completely fully booked until after my due date. He even looked for the back end of my 37th week which I’m aware is very rarely done but there’s a lot of risks involved if I go into labour and they are very keen to avoid this. It can also only be 2 of the consultants at my hospital who are able to perform the c section as it needs to be a senior one he said so very keen to avoid an emergency one. This just made me even more anxious. He emailed the rota co-ordinater to see if they can squeeze me in. I’ve called them this morning and they said there’s still nothing booked.
Does anyone have any advise for anyone I can contact to try and get this sorted? Going to try 2 other hospitals that we live within 30 minutes drive of later today to see if they can fit me in but I don’t know if there’s enough time to transfer my notes? Theres than 2 weeks.

Don’t panic they will fit you in, they have too.
May take a few days or even a week but you will get a date within the time frame they wanted to deliver.
Not everyone booked in between now and then will even make it to their planned c section date. Some may end up with natural births or labour early and be given emergency’s so there will be spaces and even if not they will make a space for you.

Thanks Kelly. That’s what my husband said too. So hard to see things clearly when you’re so anxious. I think it’s the not knowing that’s doing it and the fact the consultant outlined all the risks that are now swimming round in my head.

You can transfer your care at any stage, I did so at 41+5 weeks!

@peamad that’s good to know. Did you contact the new hospital or the existing one to get the ball rolling?
