Anti D Advice Please!

This isn't urgent and have contacted my midwife but wondering of anyone has had the same thing (this post may be TMI).

On Saturday, I had a small bout of spotting and got checked out and given my Anti D shot as me and baby are 2 different blood types. At this point, the midwife was talking in a long spiel and said that I would need to have anti d regardless of where the bleed comes from.

Well, this evening I have been constipated and pushed a little too hard and there was a bit of blood but from my rectum. When my midwife says I need anti d regardless of where the bleed comes from, is this what she meant? And if it is a need for a shot of anti d, would the one I had on saturday cover this or not?

Sorry! Just not sure whether this is something anyone else has been through!

Hi,

I'm not sure, my midwife says to only go in for an anti d shot if I have any trauma to the bump (significant fall or injury) or if I have a vaginal bleed.

Never heard of going in for other types of bleeding... they should of given you a leaflet that explains the situations you'd need to be in to get an anti D shot?

No, it's only vaginal bleeding that would require an anti d.
I'd assume the midwife meant whether the blood comes from you or baby, and not if you get a paper cut.
