Baby hasn't stretched body since last scan

So I've had two dating scans to try and get correct NT measurements but due to babies head looking odd at the last scan I got referred to the fetal medicine unit who said thankfully babies head looks fine. However still unable to get NT measurements, then baby wouldn't stretch properly even after fizzy drink and starjumps so not been told that there may be an abnormality because baby won't stretch out. Arms and legs are moving but just to see if anyone else has had their baby all curled up and told something might be wrong??

It might help to take up walking everyday (at a brisk pace that still allows you to hold a conversation - but maybe not in this heat!) for at least 30mins. The gentle rocking motion of walking should move or encourage the baby to move its position.

How many weeks are u? If i lay on my side then on my back this got my baby moving.a cold drink with ice works now im further on. Ive never had this in any pregnancy but i hope someone gets back to u who has x

They couldn't get the NT measurement at my scan either due to "persistent foetal position" - basically my baby was super lazy and just didn't really move at all. They sonographer said everything looks nice and healthy from what she can see, but I had a blood test at my 16 week midwife appt for the Down's syndrome screening.

If they are concerned I'm sure they would bring you back in for a further scan.

Xx

Same @Marty93- the sonographer even called it the laziest baby she’d seen. Then at the 20 wk scan it wouldn’t stop moving!

My baby behaved amazingly well at 12 weeks scan, then at 20 week scan he was curled up so sonographer couldn’t take majority of measurements. He had me run to costa and back to get fizzy water and chocolate but still nothing.
We rearranged appointment for 10days later, at a different time of day and baby was fully co-operative.
Try not to worry.
Could you perhaps try swimming and gentle daily walks?

Thank you everyone, it's nice to hear that there are lazy babies! They told me that there is probably something wrong with baby as I went for a walk and had a fizzy drink and baby rolled over but didn't straighten it's body out. I am 13 weeks and have had 3 scans now! Which is nice because I get to see little bean but also the stress each time 😩

My baby was an absolute pest at my dating scan 😂😂 all he (I’ll say he!!) wanted to do was play with his face or turn his back on us! Didn’t help I had an extremely full bladder which after 2 attempts at me emptying a little I was just told to fully empty! I am having a private scan on Sunday so hopefully he’s more cooperative! And I’ll get to find out if he is actually he!! Keep us posted with your little one @24Snconway96 xx

@24Snconway96 what was the outcome of your pregnancy? I am currently going through the same thing. I am 14+6. I have had three scans and seeing the fetal specialist later this week. Very anxious. My scan looks very similar to yours. I’ve been told they think baby is measuring small (about 8 days based on the measurements they have been able to get). Won’t stretch out. Been told something may be wrong.

@24Snconway96 what was the outcome of this? I should be 13+4, had two scans, both of which baby is curled up and won't stretch with any amount of moving or fizzy juice. They wont say if they think is anything is wrong.

Hi @if44 I am sorry to hear you are also experiencing a similar scenario. It can be very overwhelming and uncertainty is scary. My situation ended up being very heartbreaking. We learned my baby had triploidy and we lost him at 16 weeks (a month ago now). It is rare and so the chances of it being the same for you are low I’m sure. Sending you well wishes and prayers that everything is ok and you just have a sleepy little one.

@Finny88 thanks for your reply. I am so sorry to hear that happened to you. That unfortunately also happened to us 2 years ago. I was 13 weeks at that point, and was told it was also rare. I was hoping it couldn’t be happening again.
I hope you are coping ok, things will get better.

Thank you finny88 . I think I am going through same . Waiting for test next week- please could you guide me how you made yourself strong with everything happened.

@Shy222678 i am sorry you find yourself in a similar situation. I really hope that your outcome is positive. I wish I had advice or words that could provide you with some peace or guidance. To be honest I wasn’t strong when it happened to me. I was in total denial until the last moment when I was sure someone would tell me they were all wrong of course. It’s been four years and the grief is still very real. If things do take a turn for the worst lean on family, reach out to pregnancy and infant loss support groups and grief counselling. Those are things in hindsight that would have been hugely beneficial for my healing process. I do have a rainbow boy now, almost 2. Seeing him grow and flourish has been healing for our family. My thoughts are with you ❤️❤️
