I can’t believe I’m asking this as my daughter is only 16 months old and I’ve already forgotten.
When is a good time to book to have your first midwife appointment?
I have memories of it being at 8 weeks, but given GP surgery waiting times etc how soon is too soon to book it.
I’ve literally just missed my period and had a positive test but is 4 weeks too early?
Had losses and an ectopic in the past and lots of investigations with the EPU before 8 weeks with my successful pregnancy so I’m not sure when is the best time to ring up and book?

It seems to vary depending on the individual surgery, and some require you to see the GP first and they refer you to the midwife and other places you just go straight to the midwife. A booking appointment is generally done around 8-ish weeks, not any earlier. I’d just ring your surgery now and ask what the process is.

I'm only 4+3 and went to see my GP this morning. he was happy enough to see me did some initial checks and has sent a referral of to the midwife!

I rang my community midwife centre at around 6 weeks and self referred. they took my details and sent me an appointment out in the post. I think I was around 9 weeks.

Both times I just booked a booking-in appt with the midwives for around 8-9 weeks. Don't j is anybody who had a GP appointment, seems a waste of a slot for someone else unless you specifically need to see a doctor.

Thanks guys, we just moved house so I think I’ll give my GP surgery a call later and see what their process is.
