I've been taking my dual Pregnacare since about 2/3 months before conception and am still taking it now. Just wondered when is the best time to stop taking them?

Thanx

Doesn't it say on the packet that it's Ok to take right through until you are beastfeeding? I take it too and could also do with advice on when to stop - mind you until I get my appetite back for veg I may as well stick with it.

Can anyone out there help?

Sx

Depends on your diet really, they're just supplements and should be adding to the nutrients you're already getting. The main ones they provide are folic acid (don't need to take after 12 weeks) and iron, however as long as you're eating plenty of red meat and veg (especially leafy green veg like spinach) then there's really no need to continue to take them.

I stopped taking them religiously at about 14 weeks, and now take one every couple of days just to keep my vitamin and mineral levels up.

when you stop bf

they are not just for baby, if you are going to stop make sure you get enough of everything, iron and calcium were my problems, my teeth are awful cos of having babies

Well i've just gone out and bought three boxes in Boots (they were on 3 for 2 offer) so i'll be taking them for about another 6 months at least!!

I took them up till about 14 weeks for the folic acid and extra iron as I was bleeding till then, stopped now as you don't need them if have balanced diet and can save some money by eating better remember they want to sell you suppliments so packaging says take them for as long as possible

RGPargy · 31/07/2007 15:29

Well, spose they wont do me any harm and at £12.95 for a pack, i'm certainly not wasting them!!

Still taking them 8 months into bf, because I'm working ft and don't find time to eat proper food! Give them to dp sometimes too
