If you had an early scan, how much did your due date change at your dating scan?

Hi ladies, I had an early scan at 8 weeks that put me back 6 days from the dates of my LMP. The sonographer told me that it'll likely change as it might be due a growth spurt, so I'm just wondering how much (if) your dates changed between scans?

I'll be 11+3 at my scan, but hoping to be put ahead past the 12 week mark Smile

I calculated my due date based on lmp. Early scan had me four days later. 12 week scan had me back to my original calculation.

PrayingandHoping · 24/07/2019 11:45

I was 4 days behind at 7 week scan and measured bang on at 12 weeks. Ivf pregnancy so not doubt on dates. Consultant said dating can't be accurate before 12 weeks

mrspotatohed · 24/07/2019 11:54

If it goes back to my original dates I will be over 12 weeks. My cycle is 41 days on avg, I know what date I conceived as I was on holiday, but I was supposed to be ovulating the week after!

Hi Hun I was put a week behind at my 7 week scan and then by my 12 week scan I had caught up and was 13 weeks exactly! 😁

rollonoctober2019 · 24/07/2019 12:09

I had an early scan at 7+4 and was dated at bang on 6 weeks. Had caught up a bit by my 12 week scan Smile think it's just really hard to measure that early on

marinova · 24/07/2019 12:12

I had a 29w private scan three weeks ago and its moved my due date forward a week 🙊

Theseptemberissues · 24/07/2019 12:12

Lmp put me on 13th, private 8 week scan said 11th, 12 week scan said 8th

Midwife calculated my due date based on what she considered the first day of my last period and a regular 28 day cycle.

However, I know when I ovulated and I didn't count the first few days of spotting. My cycles are also longer.

At my 8w & 12w scans, they both confirmed I was correct to the day. So the midwife's date was rolled back to mine. That was 6 days difference to answer your question!

Triskaidekaphilia · 24/07/2019 13:37

Mine was 6 days back/forward- don't know which to call it, but due date went from 31st to 25th, at both 8 and 12 week scans. 31st still makes more sense for when I tracked ovulation to though!

Angelinthenightx · 24/07/2019 14:29

Im on baby no.6 & they have always went by date of my last period so my dates have stayed the same even though my periods are all over the place.different hospitals must have different ways.

mrspotatohed · 24/07/2019 14:59

Interesting thanks! Putting my dates into a when I conceived due date calculator gives me a due date two days earlier. I just want my scan nowwwwww Grin

My early scan matched my lmp dates but they're rarely as accurate.

Official nhs scan put me 5 days ahead!

Leleophants · 24/07/2019 15:20

Also remember due date means v little! Week of, week before and week after are most accurate Grin

Hi,
Dating from my LMP I was pushed back 3 days at my first scan (6+4 but scan dated 6+1) and then another 3 when I went in around 8 weeks (8+4 from LMP but dated at 7+5).

Then at my 12 week scan I gained 4 days back, so was 12+6 past LMP and measured 12+4. All looks fine with baby.

Hope this is helpful.

@mrspotatohed, if you were due to ovulate a week after your holiday and when you had sex it’s possible you actually ovulated around the time you were due to and that the sperm survived from the previous sex (sperm can survive up to a week in a hospitable environment). If your dates at your dating scan match those of your early scan it would explain it. I know exactly when I conceived (because it happened in a lab - IVF) and my viability scan at 6+6 tallied with it exactly. For my dating scan the hospital chose to use the first day of my lmp rather than known conception date and it put me back by a day; when I changed hospital, they changed my due date to the one based on conception date because it was an ICSI pregnancy and that’s their policy.

Mintypea5 · 24/07/2019 16:07

Early scan pushed me back 6/7 days but at my 12 week scan I was only a day or two behind my dates by LMP. I hd it hoped last pregnancy too

Goostacean · 24/07/2019 16:07

My EDD moved 6 days later at a 7 week scan, and then stayed on that new date at my 12 week scan. MW pointed out it's ideal as am aiming for VBAC and this "buys" me an extra week almost of waiting time.

Marty93 · 24/07/2019 16:16

When I had my 12 week scan they estimated my due date 4 days earlier than what was originally predicted!

TheChineseChicken · 24/07/2019 18:41

I was placed 2 days ahead of where I expected at an 8 week scan and 5 days ahead at the dating scan. Not sure what's going on there!

Ponchie · 24/07/2019 18:44

I had an 8 week scan and it put me back 8 days Smile

mistermagpie · 24/07/2019 20:56

I was scanned at 8+5 then at my 12 week scan they put me ahead by one day. I think the later your early scan is the more accurate.

CrispSandwiches19 · 24/07/2019 21:14

4 days different

SkydivingKittyCat · 24/07/2019 21:16

I calculated my date based on when I thought I ovulated. Private scan at 8 weeks said day before, NHS 12 week dating scan said day after

nataliemum25 · 24/07/2019 21:21

I was a week a head

tisonlymeagain · 25/07/2019 07:53

My scan at 7+1 put me one day ahead, then a scan at 10+3 put me another 3 days ahead of that. Official dating scan on Tuesday so we shall see!
