Latent phase?

I’ve been awake for 3 hours with contractions. They followed a pattern for a bit but are now all over the place. Rang birthing centre who said it’s latent phase and to keep an eye and not time them yet. My stomach is constantly hard and the pain comes and goes

Partner is asleep (he’s exhausted and tired from the heat) and I’ve got no one I can really ask for help. I’m currently at the end of one that’s lasted for about 15 minutes and is very painful.

I’m at my wits end. I can’t tell what is going on! Has anyone experienced this before?

@Fae1989 I could easily talk through it all right up until the point that my waters went. Even then I could, but the pain had def ramped up.
I always think of myself as having a low pain threshold but once my waters went I basically gave birth so not everyone fits the norm

@anitagreen - I think you're right. We had sod all rain last year which made things so much worse! Well done you! It definitely feels horribly hot now. Due on 6th August but praying he comes before then!!

@Frizzy1986 - a lot of people have said similar, which is interesting. I totally get that some people might not be able to talk through it but I just couldn't get why they make such a sweeping statement! Maybe you've got a high one if you could talk through it?

The one thing that she said that really annoyed me was 'You'll know when it's labour because it's really, really painful'. I felt like saying 'thanks for screwing up all the stuff I learned in hypnobirthing'! Haha xx
