Has scan at 23 weeks given baby’s sex away?

I had a scan at 23 weeks and DP is adamant he sees girl parts by the leg. He thinks it’s legs are apart but I can’t see anything other than what looks like a leg that’s been put on backwards so I’m no use.

The sonographer did say boy parts can sometimes be unavoidable depending on baby’s position as I had to be rescanned so things were a bit bigger but thankfully baby gave nothing away at the scan.

We have no preference so wanted to find out the sex at birth but DP now thinks this scan is a big clue but I think it’s just how the shot was captured.

I can see why your partner thinks that but I don't think that's what he is seeing... I don't think you can tell from that photo what the sex is. It doesn't look like the legs are apart to me but I'm no expert at reading scan pictures

If that is genitals that you can see in the picture then I still don't think it's very clear from that angle if it's a boy or girl..

@Kam610 thank you! I thought that just wanted to be sure as I didn’t want any pictures to give it away so even if it did I’d convince myself otherwise. I think you can end up driving yourself crazy looking for clues! At least my DP can anyway 😂

Haha must be so hard not too try and guess from a picture though!! I have always said that I would wait until birth to find out... but now that I'm pregnant I think I want to know 😂

You definitely can’t tell from that picture! You can see the baby’s leg so the view is not of the area in between the legs and the angle is wrong anyway. There’s a reason sonographers look from below the baby’s bum to tell the sex, it’s because it’s one of the only angles where you can get a clear view between the legs.

Hmmm I’m going to throw a curveball and say I see what your partner is seeing. Girls are usually seen because of the 3 lines that are on show. And the ultrasound picture isn’t picking up everything of your baby which is why the leg looks backwards lol. But I’m going to go with girl it looks like swollen labia that most little girls are born with x
