Hi, is there a limit on how many cervical sweeps you can have or is it as many as you can handle ?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I don't know if there's an official rule but they don't tend to do them before 38 weeks or so, would leave it a couple of days to see if it takes effect, wouldn't want pregnancy to go beyond 42 weeks - you do the maths!

I’m not sure what the guidelines are in terms of quantity, but there was space for 3 sweeps in my notes. I had 4 (first failed so technically didn’t count) at 39+6, 40+4, 40+7 & 40+9. Baby arrived in the early hours of 40+10. They have to be a minimum of 48hrs apart, but I think they work best when they are consecutive rather than having a big gap between (as long as things are looking favourable). I was booked with the home birth team who have quite relaxed ‘rules’ and said there was no limit. I would def go for one or more sweeps if your offered and keen to avoid induction.
