Hi ladies, currently 8 weeks pregnant and not coping with morning sickness. Vommiting between 3-6 times a day, constantly feeling nauseous and it's starting to make me feel exhausted. I cant keep anything down, I feel sick constantly and I feel as if i cannot cope with it any longer. Tried getting into the doctors but no luck as of yet, any advice or suggestions?

Promethazine hydrochloride (phenerghan tablets, 25mg). Got to the chemist and ask for it and they'll give you it over the counter (so long as you do t say your preggo as then they withhold practically everything!!
My midwife told me to go and get it as couldn't get a doctors appointment soon enough and I let it sit in the cupboard for a couple of weeks because I was worried about taking it without consulting doctor first but felt like such an asshole when I'd seen the doctor, they said it was perfectly fine. I had a wonderful cure sat in the cupboard for 2 weeks sat there waiting to be used whilst I felt like shite 2 weeks longer than I needed to have done 🙄

Take one at night and see how you feel, if it's not enough, take another when you wake up. It's an antihistamine and is safe during pregnancy (I wouldn't have gotten through my pregnancy without it). Was like instant relief.

I've heard of people using those sickness wrist bands (usually for travel sickness) and I'm sure my midwife mentioned a tablet when my morning sickness returned in the third trimester but I can't remember what it is called (sorry!)

My GP gave me cyclizine initially but I had some side effects so stopped taking it, tried to power through thinking it was 'normal' turned out I had HG and ended up in the Maternity Assessment Centre and got Promethazine at 14+6, still taking it now at 22 weeks but it made me feel so much better! If you can't get in with GP, do you have a MAC unit you can contact? They were brilliant with me. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi OP.

Firstly, I'm sorry you are feeling so rubbish. I am now 16 weeks and have just come out of the very dark, lonely and miserable tunnel that morning sickness creates.

My best bit of advice, and is something I wish I had done sooner, is get some anti-sickness from your GP.

I was prescribed Cyclizine at 14 weeks as I was still suffering and was starting to become dehydrated. It changed my life and I actually managed to keep fluid and a bit of food down. I wish I had done it sooner as my sickness started at 6 weeks and got progressively worse.

The only other thing I can say is if you are struggling to get into your GP, check your local hospital and see if they have an early pregnancy unit. My Hospital has a walk-in service and that is how I go prescribed my anti sickness as I couldn't get on with my GP..

I know this also doesn't help but it DOES get better for most women. even though the last time I was sick was only a couple of weeks ago, I almost can't remember how rubbish I felt as I feel so different now.

xxxx
