I’m panicking!

I’m only 5+3 but I just realised I’ve been using mouthwash that contains alcohol. I didn’t think to check until now!

Have I done some damage? Already feeling really anxious in this pregnancy

Unless your swallowing the mouthwash then no, you haven't done any damage.

mumsie8 · 21/07/2019 20:55

*you're

Ravingstarfish · 21/07/2019 20:55

Why are you drinking mouthwash?

Amibeingdaft81 · 21/07/2019 20:56

You have a long long journey ahead of you OP! Grin

DramaAlpaca · 21/07/2019 20:56

You don't swallow mouthwash do you, so you & your baby will be fine. I'm sure it would also be fine if you did accidentally swallow some. Don't worry.

Moannabandana · 21/07/2019 20:57

Don't be silly you'll be fine.

PurpleDaisies · 21/07/2019 20:58

Orange juice contains alcohol. So does vinegar.

It’s fine.

Craaaaaap · 21/07/2019 20:58

Think I did swallow a little bit by accident this evening 🤦‍♀️

Really not a issue. You don’t swallow it do you? Even if you did a teeny tiny bit of alcohol like that will do no harm. You are going to have a long few months ahead of you if you carry on being so anxious.

Bol87 · 21/07/2019 20:59

Don’t worry at all, I used an alcohol one for ages last pregnancy, it didn’t even occur to me until I went to the dentist in the second trimester & they advised me to use one with alcohol in it as I had serious gum issues.

You don’t swallow mouthwash, so it’s very unlikely to get into your bloodstream .. if you do swallow some, it’s a tiny amount and therefore a tiny amount of alcohol that will cause zero harm. Smile

Craaaaaap · 21/07/2019 20:59

Thing is, this is DC2 so I should be used to it by now

It’s what, 30ml of very low alcohol liquid? Seriously. It’s fine.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 21/07/2019 21:00

You would need to drink it by the glass for it to have any effect on you. 😂

Craaaaaap · 21/07/2019 21:01

Phew! Thanks everyone!

I dyed my hair the other day and was worried I got some in a cut.

I don’t know how to chill

babysharkah · 21/07/2019 21:01

Drink ten bottles you might have an issue, before that, nope.

Ravingstarfish · 21/07/2019 21:03

In the kindest possible way having this baby will make you worry a million times more and you won’t be able to wrap them in cotton wool. Maybe you should see the gp about this anxiety now so that when baby arrives you have a better chance of not worrying 24/7

fonxey · 21/07/2019 23:17

You can have a glass of wine once a week or so... Much better than mouthwash!

Anyway, being anxious sucks but you have to try and rationalize stuff to yourself and think hmm is this anxiety taking or my brain? Mr anxiety takes a lot of crap so you can ignore 95% wheat he says.

Verily1 · 21/07/2019 23:20

In the kindest way I think you’d benefit from some help with your anxiety

confusedandemployed · 21/07/2019 23:20

Blimey. I was swigging wine like there's no tomorrow til I was about 8 weeks, when I found out. Seriously, calm down or you'll die of anxiety before the little thing turns 1.

Craaaaaap · 22/07/2019 08:43

Thanks again all! Feeling less crazy this morning.

This is my second DC. Not nearly as crazy once I’ve had the maybe as I can physically see them.

I think there’s some guilt involved as when I was pregnant with DC1 every thought was about the pregnancy but as I’m busy with DC1, I don’t think with this pregnancy until I do something like dying my hair or using alcohol mouthwash or go for a long, sweaty walk then I start worrying.
