Tummy measurements & growth scans

I am 27 weeks today and I sure if I should be worried. I'm measuring at 22 weeks...I've always carried small but usually the measurements when measured from pubic bone to height of tummy add up to the week that I am. Hope this makes sense lol

Baby moves well all the time but so you think they'll do a growth scan with such low measurements? I have the midwife at 28 weeks plus 3 (next week)
Do they even start to measure with the tape measure yet?

Xx

Have you measured that yourself? I'd wait for the midwife to measure as they don't measure to the top of your tummy. The measurement is from your pubic bone to the top of your uterus.

I meant top of uterus. I've measured it myself yeah but I've had 4 pregnancies and have always measured myself. I'm not panicking yet, I'll wait for midwife to measure too x

The first measurement is at 28 weeks so you'll have one. If you are what you think then they'll definitely scan.
I've just had my 28 week appointment at 29+2 and I'm measuring 27cm. I've been referred for a scan on Thursday and am a little nervous and worried. Dd was bang on 50th percentile or just below the whole way through but this time I'm under the 5th.
Im hoping that everything is OK in there as I'm not really sure what to expect or what could be wrong.

Oh and I'm not a petite person either. I'm 5"8 and was a size 12-14 before getting pregnant. I just hope that it's nothing I've caused.

gkeal3 · 20/07/2019 22:53

I'm sure it's nothing you've caused at all. I do know so many people who have had growth scans for under and over measurements and everything has been absolutely fine.
I'm sure that wait for the scan is quite nerve racking though, it's natural to worry.

I've just measured again and definitely measuring 22/23cm. I am smaller this time, I feel smaller and my babies have got smaller each time so I'm hoping I have nothing to worry about and it's just a small baby. It's very active so I'll just see what midwife says next week. I just wondered how small I'd have to measure before I was referred for a scan.

All the best for your scan Thursday xxx

My measurements have come up a few days behind, and one was 2 weeks behind, but my growth scans showed baby is actually large, so I think they're not very accurate at all. The main thing they seem to look for is progression rather than the actual measurement itself.

Ive measured between 1 and 2 weeks ahead throughout my pregnancy and my MW hasn't been concerned at all. As long as you are following a centile and not dipping off it or increasing dramatically then I don't think there's much to worry about.

Thanks ladies xx

My fundal height was measuring 8 weeks behind at one stage. I had growth scans every 2 weeks and was induced at 37 weeks due to consistently being below 10th centile. Baby was 5lb 3oz but perfect.
