Bleed and well, just in shock!

Hope this makes sense? I'm literally shaking!

I'm 38 and on the mini pill which I take religiously. Didn't think about when my period was due but only a few days over which is not unusual.

Last night I woke up bleeding which scared the heck out of me because it was so sudden and quite a bit of blood. Assumed period so put tampon in.

But no further bleeding throughout the day. Spoke to my mum who is a retired Nurse Practitioner and she said just to take a test for reassurance. I don't know how but it's a definite positive.

Been starting to bleed a little more tonight but nothing much.

My biggest fear is an ectopic pregnancy (I suffer with health anxiety and basically have convinced myself that's what it is).

Any advice would be so, so kind xx

Many, many women bleed in early pregnancy (some have good outcomes and some bad). It's not normally the first/ only symptom of an ectopic pregnancy...

It would probably be a sensible idea to go see your gp for advice. They may suggest an early scan if the bleeding continues. But it's very very common (as are getting period-type cramps. Mine were so bad that they used to wake me up regularly until at least 8 weeks.)

Good luck. I hope you get the reassurance you need from the gp.

Aw thank you so much. Thing is, I don't know how to feel as completely unexpected. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I've never been late taking the pill.

I worry about how my boys will take it if it is a viable pregnancy. They are 9 and 12 and only with my for half of the time (I share care with my ex).

My fiance is so easygoing about it all-he doesn't have any children of his own (would have liked them but we knew it wasn't really probably ever going to be the 'right' time financially. We both work ft but on low incomes and renting a three-bed.

I fell on the mini pill last September, like you never missed.
I went for an early scan because we had know idea how far along I was.
Unfortunately in my case it was an eptopic.
I would ask for a scan, they said it happens50/50 so you maybe ok, but I would get checked

@Em39ma Really sorry to hear that 😢 Do you mind me asking what the process was once you knew it was ectopic? I had two miscarriages before my first son but one was natural and one was missed so I had an ERPC.

Mine was pul to start with. I started to bleed a week after the scan and then stopped. 2 weeks later I was in agony and bleeding again. Thought it might just be my first AF after.
I ended up in A&E and then sent back to the EPAU, were they think I managed to pass it through the tube myself.
I was very poorly after, so I would suggest if they think it is one you have the Op.
