9 week 4 days pregnant, private scan at 6w4d yolk sac not seen and no heartbeat? She stated I had a missed miscarriage or was it too early to see a heartbeat?

I had a scan yesterday at a private clinic in Rochdale, I am meant to be 9weeks and 4 days pregnant but the lady said I was 6wk4days to what it was measuring too, it was an internal scan said there no yolk sac and baby was measuring as 7.4mm it’s my first pregnancy, she stated it’s not going as it should be as they couldn’t detect a heartbeat.. could it be a missed miscarriage as she stated or maybe too early to detect a heartbeat.. need some help and reassurance if it is a missed miscarriage these things happen.. but I would like to be 100% has anyone been through this

I had a scan at 6+3. It was ivf, so dated exact. I was told not to expect a heartbeat that early. Foetal pole was 5.6mm and we did see a slight flicker which we were told was the heartbeat.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to say whether it's an mmc or if your dates are just out.

Hugs. Be kind to yourself. When are you being scanned next?

I had a scan at 5+1 just a sac & at 7+1 saw a heartbeat. Got no advice im sorry apart from what happend at mine. Hope your ok & just wait & see what happens at your next scan it is horrible to wait x

I’m sorry but you would normally expect to see a heartbeat if the baby is 7mm or larger so a missed miscarriage is the most likely explanation. However I would get a repeat scan on the NHS to be sure.

A similar thing happened to me with a private scan, I would suggest contacting your local GEU and going for a scan with the NHS, they will then book you in for another if they think there's a chance things will develop X

Had the same thing, but a week later there was a heartbeat. He's now 15 years old - so there can yet be a happy ending. Good luck.

This happened to me. I went for a private scan at 8+4, there was no heartbeat and was measuring 6+3. Unfortunately it was a MMC for me. I’m sorry I can’t say anything more encouraging Flowers

6w4d scan revealed a sac and yolk sack. My HTG levels are still climbing but not at the rate of doubling as they should do and there was no embryo. They said I had to wait to TWO weeks to go back and see if anything had developed but it looked like I was 5w instead of 6w4d. This is my 6th pregnancy, my son was born in 2017 then I've had four miscarriages (not including this one) since then.
Has anyone had a similar situation? My first two miscarriages were missed miscarriages and I didn't miscarry until 10 and 11 weeks so I think this one might be the same unless it's actually OK? Can anyone share their stories good and bad? I feel like I'm going crazy xx

HufflepuffBean · 08/10/2019 06:55

I had very similar to this. At 6 weeks and 5 days had a scan and was told they could see the yolk and egg sac but no feral pole and I had definitely miscarried.

2 weeks later I went back (8 weeks and 4 days) and my little sack was now huge and there was definitely a heartbeat. That blob is now lying next to me.

I'm not trying to give you false hope, but scans aren't always accurate. Good luck! Thanks

Oh my goodness can't believe you had the same thing. Could your dates have been messed up? Have you ever had a miscarriage before?
Sorry for all the questions, this is madness xxx

HufflepuffBean · 08/10/2019 12:58

@ZoPalmer

I'm presuming your reply was in response to mine, sorry if I'm wrong!

I had 3 miscarriages (first was twins, I had an early scan because of bleeding, second I have no idea (I had no bleeding until it happened) and third was twins with one I miscarried and the other burst my Fallopian tube) and my DS was my fourth pregnancy but first baby.

My dates were changed at the 12 week scan. I knew I'd conceived late as we only dtd once in the month I conceived but because the dates are based from LMP they were off. I went to the 12 week scan being 12 weeks and 6 days and came out 11 weeks and 3 days, so a bit of a change.

I really hope things are okay for you. I know how hard multiple miscarriages are and it's an awful limbo to be in.

Hello Hufflepuff XX

Yes sorry it was to you, I've never used this before but was so desperate this morning. Your words have been so comforting but I can only begin to imagine your pain that you've been through as well.

This continual Miscarriages is really full on isn't it? Sooooo pleased your miracle is there with you, my god you have been through hell!

I've been given the details of a private consultant so I'll go see him. I just get very ill with pregnancy as I am now and it's frustrating if there is no point but I'm just hoping this one ends up being exactly like your story xxxxxxxx

I can not tell you how grateful I am for you to share this with me. To take the time to reply to someone who was feeling so alone, thank you.

Where are you from?
