Im 39 weeks with no 2. (MW are insisting on using my scan dates which put me at 38 weeks - I KNOW this isnt right as know when i conceived!)

Head is still totally free and baby is OP/back to back. My dd was OP and had long slow and painful early labour.

Does this mean Im going to be late? Worried they will let me go to (what I believe is) 43 weeks. Anyone had experience with this?

normal with no 2 that babys head doesn't always engage till labour starts, so doesn't mean your going to be late

DS#1 was born within 4 hours at 39 weeks and he was head down from 30 weeks and engage 3/5th's at 37 weeks,

DS#2 was born within 3 hours at 39 weeks, he was OP so OP doesn't always mean longer labour, he was head down and engage 4/5th's at around 32 weeks!

But this DC#3 40 weeks on Friday is so very free "head down but free", I think it's the only thing stopping me from going into full labour, MW told me not to worry as baby can engage at the last min, still feel due to my other babies being engage 3-4/5th's and all that, allowed me to go into labour with no trouble, as it is I've had AF pains on and off, odd twinges and tightening, but nothing to get excited about (and I was never like this with my other babies) I'll have to wait and see. Also regarding dates, I was TTC this LO for 18 months I KNOW when I conceived this LO but scan show's me to be different, I had a talk with my MW regarding this and she explained to me that they believe babies in the very early weeks grow at different rates which means, some are a week or 2 ahead and some a week or 2 behind, so don't worry to much!

I really hope to that a free baby doesn't mean a late baby!

One of my fellow NCT classmates had her baby on Friday at 4am. When I saw her last on Tuesday she had been to the midwife that day and had been told that the baby's head wasn't engaged at all. So don't worry, the baby can drop and labour can start quite quickly. There is hope yet!

ds was born right on due date and head only engaged in labour so dont worry
