Belly buttons!

Hello!

Curious as to whether anyone's gone through pregnancy and managed to keep their belly button piercings?

Also, if your belly button popped from an innie to an outtie, when did this happen?

I'm 30+5 weeks today and so far I still have an innie and have managed to keep my piercing with the use of a 'retainer' where the bar is of plastic type material.

I noticed after my 30 week scan (because I had to remove the piercing for the scan) that my innie has become slightly less deep than it was so I was wondering whether it could pop out at this stage? I thought I'd passed the stage where this could happen because my bump has been on the large size for a while now (like everyone loves to keep reminding me!).

If it pops to an outtie will I be forced to remove the piercing? And if it doesn't, any success stories with the retainer?

Just curious really! 😊

If it's fully healed you're better off just removing it completely. The tunnel of skin will remain.

Whereas if you put in the retainer, the pressure on the skin can damage it either by breaking the skin or pushing the piercing towards the surface.

I'm 27+5 and still have an innie, but the top of my piercing is red and angry for some reason - possibly from the increased rubbing against my clothing since my bump popped out. I've put a flexible barbell in but to be honest I think I'll have to face facts and remove it.
The piercing is 16 years old btw!

My piercing is 14 years old and like you said is angry at the top!

I had worried about the pushing to the surface thing.. skin is getting thinner!

I've just removed it. It looks grim tbh.
As it's such an old piercing I'm hoping I'll be able to put it back in after the birth.

I was asked to remove mine for a scan and didn't put it back in until after delivery - no problem. Belly button got wide and shallow but never popped out.

I'm only 20 weeks but have taken mine out as my belly button has started to get wider and I'm scared of my skin starting to push it out

Have never had a belly button piercing but need to keep an eye on my belly button as I've got a mesh hernia repair (had it done when I was about 3) and if it pops out it's pretty serious.
27+1 with DC2 and kept an innie both times, they get shallow but probably just to the point of a normal belly button.
