I've had the pessary - now it's just a waiting game

How are things going @Mrbumpoid & @Triskaidekaphilia ? I'm still getting bouts of contractions most days but have resigned myself to a super long latent phase which lasts until my induction date, think that's the best way to cope with it mentally!

Triskaidekaphilia · 24/07/2019 10:04

They reckon it was discharge, not waters, based on it not soaking a pad over a few hours, so I didn't end up getting seen. I also mentioned hiccups increasing as I've heard this is very rarely a bad sign when it happens in the last few weeks, and both midwives I spoke to seemed to think I was crazy!

I've felt like I've had less of the period type pains and more of the painless braxton hicks over the last couple of days. Dunno what's going on now.

stripeyronnie · 24/07/2019 16:47

@Triskaidekaphilia If it's any comfort I have started to feel baby hiccuping in the last few days which I hadn't before!

Triskaidekaphilia · 24/07/2019 17:46

@stripeyronnie I'm not overly worried as chances are it's nothing but the midwife was very 'don't worry about what you read on the internet' about it which made me feel patronised rather than reassured.

Mrbumpoid · 24/07/2019 19:35

I've had the baby! Pessary at 3pm, waters broke at 11pm, labour started straight away. I went from 0.5cm to 9cm in ONE HOUR!!

@Mrbumpoid congratulations!! Grin

I'm getting loads of cramps tonight but just going to assume that they mean nothing! (As always)

stripeyronnie · 24/07/2019 20:06

@Mrbumpoid Congratulations! For my last pregnancy the same happened to me within 40minutes, baby was nearly born in a lift and I remember feeling shocked for days! Just expected it to be a slow process! Enjoy your baby!

mumof23188 · 24/07/2019 20:24

Congratulations @Mrbumpoid

Mrbumpoid · 24/07/2019 22:26

@Mrsmummy90 you never know! Stay as relaxed as possible and things more likely to get moving!

Mrbumpoid · 24/07/2019 22:28

@stripeyronnie yes it was a shock - I still half expected I would be up the hospital now!

Congratulations @Mrbumpoid !!!

mumof23188 · 25/07/2019 04:33

My DS also arrived a couple of hours ago! Waters went at half 10 and baby born at half 2. Very quick! Totally worth it!

Mrsmummy90 · 25/07/2019 06:08

@mumof23188 congratulations!! Grin

mumof23188 · 25/07/2019 06:09

@Mrsmummy90 thank you! How are you doing?

Triskaidekaphilia · 25/07/2019 13:46

Congratulations @mumof23188!!!

mumof23188 · 25/07/2019 15:22

Thank you @Triskaidekaphilia hope you are doing ok?

Triskaidekaphilia · 26/07/2019 00:42

I'm doing ok, getting more and more contractions that hurt enough to feel like real ones now, but no pattern to them at all so not labour yet! I was intending to be a bit more active today but the heat made it impossible!

mumof23188 · 29/07/2019 06:04

@Triskaidekaphilia how are you? Did they turn into labour for you?

Triskaidekaphilia · 29/07/2019 15:33

Unfortunately not @mumof23188. Haven't had a painful one since Friday. I am 1cm dilated and baby's head is very low. I had a sweep this morning and if nothing comes of it I'm having another on Wednesday. I've said I don't want to be induced yet but am happy to have one at the end of next week.

mumof23188 · 29/07/2019 16:56

@Triskaidekaphilia fingers crossed the sweeps work well for you! When are you due? Good luck with everything

Triskaidekaphilia · 29/07/2019 23:33

@mumof23188 I was due last Thursday. So far all that's changed was I started throwing up, but think I'm ok now.
