38+5 here. No signs of baby coming out yet, first baby was born at 38+6 so I was hopeful this one would be similar.
Getting induced on my due date though so can count down the days now

Mrsmummy90 · 17/07/2019 11:09

@Purple09876 I'm 38+5 as well and had dc1 at 39 weeks. I was hoping this one would be around the same time too but nothing 🙈

Purple09876 · 17/07/2019 15:23

@Mrsmummy90 its frustrating isn't it! I was convinced this one would be early.
Feel much more uncomfortable this time too

Mrsmummy90 · 17/07/2019 16:13

@Purple09876 sorry to hear that! I've made loads of plans for the next few days in the hopes that it will jinx it and I'll have the baby lol

Triskaidekaphilia · 18/07/2019 12:26

I had pretty bad period type pains, front and back, at 4.30 this morning and they lasted for an hour (used a hot wheat bag thingy which may have helped) but no contractions. I thought it might be very early labour but the pain's gone now. Anyone had anything similar?

Triskaidekaphilia · 18/07/2019 12:42

Hmm, now I've been walking about a bit, I'm feeling the cramps again but they're much milder this time.

Mrbumpoid · 18/07/2019 12:46

@Triskaidekaphilia

I had period like pains that felt like the beginning. That was after an unsuccessful sweep (bc I was not dilated so it didn't happen). Then they went away. I've not felt much since.

However, when I sit/bounce on the birthing ball, I begin to get slight pains. I wonder if this is the best thing to do or if it's just pains from how I am sitting

Triskaidekaphilia · 18/07/2019 12:51

So this may not mean impending labour then, still, I'm glad it's normal for them to just go like that.

They do say bouncing on the ball can bring labour on so maybe that's a good sign for you! I still haven't bought one even though I was advised to for my PGP Blush

Mrbumpoid · 18/07/2019 14:15

Yes defo get one! Just order online next day delivery and get bouncing!

Almost 40 weeks and nothing!

I had a few nights last week where I woke up with period like pains and back pain but nothing since. Baby is not yet engaged either! Although I have no idea if that makes any difference.

I was really hoping he would be on time, getting very impatient! I've got a ball so maybe should bounce some more. My friends have recommended long walks and sex...

Got the midwife next week and tempted to ask for a sweep if no news at that point. What's everyone's experience of sweeps?

MyloC · 18/07/2019 16:27

@AnnieCat84 I had a sweep today and midwife said I was 2-3cm so fingers crossed it's successful. It was really uncomfortable though! Feeling a bit crampy and have had a show. I'm 39 + 5.

I am sooooo fed up so really hope baby appears soon.

Mrbumpoid · 20/07/2019 23:19

Any updates?

I've been getting constant BH and a lot of lightning crotch. Had major anxiety last night and was awake loads. Baby was going mental all night too.

Hi @Mrbumpoid how are you doing? I’m 39+3 today. Just having cramps and lots of lightning pains which shoot down my thighs. Feeling very uncomfortable tonight and struggling to sleep.

Mrbumpoid · 20/07/2019 23:33

Hey @mumof23188

Ooh shooting pains in the thighs sounds like progress! The not sleeping is horrible, isn't it? Heatwave coming so I'm getting water spray mist stuff being delivered and will our flannels etc in the freezer!!

mumof23188 · 21/07/2019 00:02

@Mrbumpoid I’ve had so many false starts that I’m trying my best to not get excited! How far along are you now? Ah yes the heatwave next week. I can’t decide if I’d still rather be pregnant or have a newborn in the heat! Sounds as if you’ve got the right idea. I may have to follow suit. The not sleeping is awful. So tired but in pain and uncomfortable. Hope you manage a good sleep tonight!

Mrbumpoid · 21/07/2019 04:03

@mumof23188

I’m exactly the same as you! 39 + 4 now. It's 4am and I've woken up so I managed 4 hours. Have a scan today as have low-ish amniotic fluid. Yes I've thought the exact same thing about having baby in this heat and keeping them cool 😬 We may as well start off with a challenge 😂

OP posts:
mumof23188 · 21/07/2019 05:09

@Mrbumpoid ahh same due date ☺️. I do hope everything goes well at your scan. What time is it at? Let me know how you get on? Do you know if baby is a boy or girl? Yes it would be a challenge wouldn’t it. My first was born in the winter so total opposites!

Mrbumpoid · 21/07/2019 10:07

@mumof23188

Just had it! Cervix is softened but not dilated. Induction on Tuesday.

She said the best thing to do is try to relax. She said if a giraffe in the wild is being stalked by lions then it won't go into labour. She said try to chill and use an exercise ball. They are the most reliable things.

We are having a girl!

How about you?

OP posts:
mumof23188 · 21/07/2019 10:47

@Mrbumpoid glad it went well for you. How are you feeling about the induction? The end is in sight for you ☺️.

That’s really helpful isn’t it and makes total sense! I will get an exercise ball today 🤞. A baby girl, how lovely. Will baby be your first? We are having a boy!

Mrbumpoid · 21/07/2019 13:18

@mumof23188

I’m feeling okay about it tbh bc I just want it all done now! I've heard labour can be more painful with induction but I have nothing to compare it with bc, yes, it is my first!

Is this your first? Congrats on a boy! I really wanted a boy but as soon as I found out I was having a girl, it all made sense!

Hellosunshine30 · 21/07/2019 13:57

@Mrbumpoid I felt this way about induction. It's my first baby too and I was nervous about induction. My 2 good friends have had inductions for their first and they said it was fine and nothing to worry about like people say. X

FairyDust92 · 21/07/2019 14:03

@Mrbumpoid I heard horror stories about induction and the pain being worse. I also had nothing to compare it too as it was my first baby. It really wasn't bad at all, I imagine needing the hormone drip would make it more intense but I know people sometimes ask for the epidural before this for that reason. But based on my experience if you don't need the drip the actual process itself is not that painful. Maybe I was just lucky but it defo wasn't a horror story like I heard! x

mumof23188 · 21/07/2019 15:06

@Mrbumpoid you will be well looked after. I’d feel the same to be honest atleast it will all be done. Everyone has something to say regarding birth because everyone is different and they have different experiences.

Thank you. We are excited to meet our baby boy. Just hope he hurries up! We have a DD who is 7!

ImpatientFTM · 21/07/2019 23:32

Advice please!! 39+5 and have had terrible stabbing back pain for the last day or so, painful heartburn and noticing more and more discharge.

I’m booked in for a sweep on Wednesday but does any of the above sound promising?! :)

Triskaidekaphilia · 22/07/2019 00:22

@Mrbumpoid my midwife said induction makes the contractions ramp up more suddenly, but it isn't actually more painful. Also I did as you said and got the exercise ball- it really takes the pressure off my knees which have been so sore for the last week and bouncing is quite fun Grin

@ImpatientFTM I have the stabby/spasmy back pain too, and my heartburn has got even worse. But that's been going on a couple of weeks and nothing yet. I don't know about the discharge but noticed a lot of it today myself!
