I just found out yesterday that I am PG. First baby 😊 According to my Flo app it comes up saying 5 weeks 3 days, but if I look at the calendar on the app and count the weeks since my last period it is 4 weeks 3 days.. I've tried inputting this into other apps too, one says 4 weeks 2 days and one says 4+1. So confused! So if the first day of my last period was 16th of June, how many weeks/days does that make me?

Also, when do people normally tell their work place? I work as a nurse in a very busy ward and we sometimes have patients with infectious diseases which we have to take extra precautions for. We also regularly have to do CPR and I'm not sure if that would be harmful or not. Should I tell them straight away?

I'd say from that, it would be 4+2 I think, but I'm not great. My last period was 4th June, counting on calendar would make 6+1, which is exactly what my Flo app says. Same we are using the same app but yours varies your date!

I suggest you ask a colleague or if you have a colleague who is pregnant or know they had a baby previously, that you ask them when they told them. I'm in an office job and work as a PA to a director, I won't be telling him until around 12-14 weeks. But it's a totally diff work situation to yours

How long are your cycles usually? The generic apps use a 28 day cycle but for me for example, I have 31 day cycles so I always add on 3 days to an estimated due date. Last time, my due date never budged. I add on 3 days to the calculators & all my scans kept the same due date!

16th June with a 28 day cycle would give you 4 weeks + 2 days Smile .. due 22 March!

Work wise, last time I waited to 12 weeks but I have an office job. Morning sickness floored me in my first trimester & lying to everyone was such hard work! This time around, I will be honest if I’m that bad. I’d rather they understand why than be a bit annoyed at why on earth I was in & out the office so much! In your job, I’d certainly tell someone who can advise on what you should & shouldn’t do.. if not a manager, maybe HR? And perhaps see how you feel in the first trimester, I’ve not great, it’ll def be useful to tell a couple colleagues I imagine, especially in your job!

Thanks both for your replies!

Bol- my cycles usually range from 29-30 days, so pretty regular! Thanks for that 😊 yeah i will maybe have a private chat with my boss, it just seems so early to be telling anyone about it, so worried in case something goes wrong! I've worked alongside other nurses who have been pregnant and I don't think they had to restrict themselves too much! Our ward gets so hot though as we are on a high up floor, I hope I can cope with the heat, it was bad enough when not pregnant!

I'd go with the 4 weeks, but your edd may well change at your dating scan anyway.

Check your staff policies about duties while pregnant, there might be something in there about having to notify someone your pregnant in some circumstances. I'd guess there are some things you'd be restricted with in nursing but it should be set out in a policy for you if you don't want to tell anyone yet or you could ask your midwife when you refer for your booking app?

I'm office based and haven't told work yet at 20 weeks... there very little risk to me or baby.

You need to change your flo settings to say current week. I got really confused too as it seems to auto default to count weeks gone (which isn't how anyone else does it!) congrats on your BFP!

Oh bless you @kam610 .. I have to say I’m a bit anxious about early pregnancy over some of summer. The sickness was bad enough when it was fairly cold Oct/Nov! The thought of it in the hot weather Confused .. I hope it’s not too bad for you, maybe invest in a hand held fan! And freeze a bottle of water to defrost over the day!

Thanks for the help regarding the Flo app, have managed to sort it 👍 I actually googled my nhs trust website for their maternity policy. It has a timeline on who to inform and when, and starts from week 12 so I'll hang on until then unless I'm really struggling or obviously pregnant with sickness etc. There's a few girls who I was on night shift with not too long ago and we were all discussing trying to get pregnant soon so I'm sure one of them will likely ask at some point how things are going.

The nausea is really starting to kick in now, it takes me ages in the morning to find the courage to eat and I've been really burpy. The exhaustion is also overwhelming! I just want to sit and do nothing! 12 hour shifts are going to be a killer 😖
