Heavy period pains 28 weeks pregnant

Hi guys,

I'm back again with another question. I'm 28 weeks today...

Since last night I've been getting period like pains in my lower stomach. Baby is still kicking as usual.

They've become gradually worse, in at my desk in work and they feel like a full blown period and I can feel them slightly less painful in my right side of my back

I have a midwife appt tomorrow, so will definitely be mentioning it then. They'll also check my water sample so will pick up a water infection if I have one.

I'm not doubled over in pain, but they are significant in my lower stomach and thighs.

I know we aren't doctors so I'm not asking if I should go the hospital - if they get worse I definitely will but I'm wondering if anyone's experienced this and has any advice on what they did?

Not at 28 weeks no. Only ever used to get a slight twinge of p pain cramps. Can’t recall though if it was a bit later on. I get them now I am 39+3, but they aren’t painful and I am hoping it means I’ll be going into labour soon!

Sorry I can’t be more helpful than that. If they aren’t regular I would be less concerned if it was me, but if they were a bit painful and regular, I wouldn’t wait around. I’d phone the MAU xx

I used to get this, although not this severe, when I was having strong braxton hicks.

Definitely worth a call though op, hope all is well x

No, never had that, and I would phone triage for assessment in case the pains are premature labour.

Ah I'll give my hospital a call now. Thanks everyone

@melissa1215 how did it go? Everything ok? Xx

The pains got really heavy throughout the night, phoned my hospital and they said they are probably Braxton hicks and to wait until I see my midwife today (I'm in the waiting room now) and mention it to her

Not very helpful tbh, but they pains did subside and aren't as bad as last night.. hopefully I find out more today!

Thanks everyone xx

Braxton hicks? Wow you wouldn’t expect them to be so painful would you. Well I do hope it is nothing then, and hope the appointment goes well. Maybe they will send you for another scan to reassure you x

I can't believe they didn't ask you to come in to check you over. Shock Good luck today.

Thinking of you OP, hope everything is ok Thanks

How are you doing OP? Xx

My friend had this and it was a water infection so keep an eye on things and see your GP if it happens again.
