This happened to me. My waters broke with no prior warning. You will be asked to go into assessment and they’ll check your waters and your urine. You may be sent home if there’s no concerns (such as electrolytes in urine) to see if labour starts naturally within 24 hours, or they might keep you in. If labour doesn’t start they will likely want to induce you within 24-48 hours to minimise the risk of

I actually ended up having a section but not because of my waters having gone first.

Good luck! And congratulations! You’re going to meet your baby soon!!

This happened to me, they admitted me and after 2 days they induced me as I was starting to get an infection. 4 hours later DS was here Smile

risk of infection*

Happened to me at 7am, phoned at told to go to triage at 2pm.

Turned out I had meconium in urine and was admitted.

Hooked up to drip by 5pm to bring on contractions.

Ended to with section next morning due to failure to progress.

Good luck ❤️

They will often leave you to see if things progress on their own before they will induce labour. My first baby, my waters broke at 9.30 am, I wasn't actually in any pain till about 4pm, then it happened quick and she was here at 6. So you might not get much pain for a while.

MsTSwift · 15/07/2019 06:18

That happened to me exactly. Nothing happened after waters broke waited 24 hours got inducted 12 hours labour emergency c section.

My tip if they end up inducting you ask for pain relief! My bil a consultant anaesthetist at another hospital was shocked I didn’t have any at that stage as you go straight into full blown labour with no build up.

My waters broke about 5pm and I went in about 6. Although I could only feel mild pain, the monitor I was hooked up to said I was having contractions so they kept me there.
My da was born just after midnight.
Good luck!

As per the other replies, they will want to check there is no infection, see if you progress at all and if nothing happens for 24/48 hours then will induce.
Good luck!
