We’re still living at my PILs after our purchase fell through when the vendor demanded more money on the day of exchange Sad we’re in the process of buying elsewhere now but the chances of being completed and in before the baby arrives are vanishingly slim.

Part of me isn’t even looking forward to the baby getting here anymore. Purely for selfish reasons... I’ll be trying to get to grips with BF under someone else’s roof, where I can’t just get my boobs out whilst I’m sat in the living room on the sofa and FIL is watching Cash in the Attic or whatever. Or dealing with the physical aftermath of childbirth/possible birth injuries/C section when we’re sleeping in the converted attic room up two steep flights of stairs. Oh and the hospital I’ll be delivering in is over 50 miles away, a journey which includes either the Blackwall tunnel or Dartford crossing... and My Mum is already giving me grief about how upset she feels that my PILs will see so much more of the baby than she will. I’ll be worrying about ruining PILs sleep every time the baby cries in the night (or, as my FIL works 3 nights a week, in the middle of the day!). It’s just going to make everything so much harder. Honestly I’m dreading it.

Mostly I’m upset that DH and I can’t just pull up the drawbridge and retreat into our own little cocoon when we’re living in someone else’s house, so we will never get to experience those first few days parenthood where it’s just the 3 of us.

AngeIoMysterioso · 11/09/2019 16:49

Oh- and to add insult to injury said vendor has put the place we were trying to buy back on the market... for £1000 more than he’d have got from us.

newbabyyy2019 · 11/09/2019 17:02

@AngeIoMysterioso Sorry you're going through a hard time with living arrangements! What is with us pregnant women doing everything at the most stressful of times when we should be relaxing! I'm sure everything will work out in the end!
I'm also in the process of buying a house with DP, was hoping it would be complete before the babies here because we don't want them to know I'm on maternity leave but that's not looking likely. Starting to think it's not going to end well but I'm letting DP deal with all of that cause I can't be doing with the stress!

Frizzy1986 · 11/09/2019 19:10

@AngeloMysterioso that's awful. Why would anyone do that, I just don't get it. You put something on the market and accept an offer that you are happy with, what reason would you have to demand more money after you've already accepted the offer and more specifically that late in the process.
Plus, what sort of person does it?!
Surely they understand that people offer less than what it's on the market for so they'll end up with offers less than what you had agreed to pay.

Do they even reimburse legal fees when they pull out that late for their own greed?
I'm sure things will work out in the end though. I've got my fingers crossed for you 🤞

I know the first bit isn't going to be the experience you hoped for, but to be honest, I was in my own house and it wasn't what I thought it would be either. It's not all roses and cute baby cuddles.
It was more a whole week of no sleep as dd would only sleep led on someone so me and dh took it in turns over night to sit in bed holding her.
Then she lost too much weight, ended up in hospital for jaundice issues and a midwife told me I was a bad mum not eating well enough to supply enough milk for her.
Then the hormone crash hit around day 5 (it's a real thing to keep in mind as I literally hit rock bottom and thought it was me, but pretty much all mums have it at that exact point)
Plus once you get over those first initial breastfeeding sessions in public, you don't care anymore. Pretty sure all of Starbucks saw my boob on my first go.
We specifically went out at feeding time and went to Starbucks knowing that they supported breastfeeding.
We sat at the table with our drinks and I spent some time to pluck up the courage to go for it. Not sure anyone really noticed, even the rowdy teenagers who were sat at the table next to us or the passers by as dh had chosen a table by the full length window.

@newbabyyy2019 hope your move goes through well for you. How many weeks are you? Is there still a chance that you'll make it in time?

I'm still hoping that I start to get some twinges soon. Dd arrived the equivalent of Saturday and I was already twining by now. This time, nothing! Nothing at all, except feeling a little sick sometimes (like a but of sick comes up my throat every now and then) and a lot of burps that I can't get up.

Em39ma · 11/09/2019 19:59

Bad night again with my hip. I also got cramp in it, which involved me shouting and kicking DH somewhere he really doesn’t like being kick 😂😂
Had physio this morning trying a few different exercises, hoping they will make a difference. Got my next appointment on the 30th, we are both hoping she is out by then. She believes it will stop hurting as soon as she is out.
Got my hair done this afternoon, which always makes me nice and relaxed.
Midwife tomorrow afternoon, will see what she said, but expecting to then be sent for another scan as bump will still be off the scale.

Frizzy1986 · 11/09/2019 20:47

@Em39ma sorry your hip is still causing you grief. Mine were feeling worse than usual this morning, but some swaying and circles on the gym ball really helped. Think I'll go on all fours with my head resting on it shortly and do some hip dips and raises. Although I do worry how that will go with the acid reflux.

newbabyyy2019 · 11/09/2019 21:10

@Frizzy1986 I'm 36+2.. I'm in a more lucky situation with the whole house thing. We're renting DP's grandparents house from them and are in the process of buying it so luckily don't have to move or anything because we're already living here. We thought it would be complete weeks ago but they have now said it could take up to 10 weeks. They've still got to do some last credit checks and for someone to value what they think the house is worth. I just hope they don't contact my work or realise I've gone on mat leave because it could effect them giving us the mortgage when they realise I'm not getting the wage I've said I'm getting. (Hope that makes sense)

Had a scan and monitoring this morning. I noticed that it sounded as though my babies heart was skipping a beat occasionally and the midwife also said she'd noticed it as well. After about a minute the heartbeat sounded fine and was fine throughout the rest of the monitoring and the sonographer checked it when she scanned me and said it's nothing to worry about at all and that it's quite common and that it should go after time.. Was a bit worried at first though..

Em39ma · 11/09/2019 21:38

@Frizzy1986 my hips fine during the day. Just absolute agony at night. I think it’s because I normally sleep on my front and sleeping on my side is pushing in the wrong direction.
It’s starting to get worse when walking, but I think that’s more down to how big I am.

Frizzy1986 · 11/09/2019 22:02

@Em39ma are you doing much walking in the day? My women's health physio said the pain at night is often due to overexertion during the day. It seems to ring true with me as I notice more pain overnight if I've done a lot during the day.
It's why I should be resting more, even though I'm an idiot and don't.

@newbabyyy2019 oh that's good. At least it's more just tying up all the legal stuff.
Surely they won't do a recheck on your mortgage at this stage. Once you have your agreement in principle and mortgage agreed, isn't that it, and surely you had to prove your salary at that point as can't imagine they would lend without up to date salary documents in the first place so surely you are fine at this point?!

My braxton hicks are going skitz right now. Maybe a slight bit of cramping as well. I'm trying to remind myself that it's still too early to expect anything to actually be happening.

Em39ma · 11/09/2019 22:30

@Frizzy1986
Hardly doing anything. They think it’s because I have been carrying children around for over 30 years on the same hip. Basically being a nanny has caught up to me.
My hip was 2/3 inches lower on the left, but after a few massages etc it’s now an inch higher. So they are now trying to get down and level.
It also could be years of skiing and surfing catching up too.

HJWT · 12/09/2019 06:55

Morning everyone! How are we all?? 👶🏻 starting to become fed up!?

I feel really rough today, haven't got out of bed yet because I feel like I'm going to throw up everywhere! Also have a sore throat so those 2 together don't mix well 🤔 iv got my scan today though so best get DD ready for nursery 🥴 xx

I’ve given myself a day off from sorting the house. Just done a load of laundry and now back in bed. Rubbish sleep last night, hips aching so much. Going for an afternoon tea later!
Baby in a horrible position earlier, was doubled over in pain. Seems to have moved now so hope it stays that way.

@HJWT2 Hope your scan goes ok! Sorry you feel lousy.

GinMama1 · 12/09/2019 10:56

@faelavie I've been measuring two or more weeks ahead so had to have a growth scan. Baby is average size but I am small! But it was nice to see the baby again.

@Frizzy1986 I think I'm getting that weird taste thing too. Not nice.

@Em39ma if you can manage it, get yourself some acupuncture. My hospital offer it for pregnant women. I've been having physio for PGP/sciatic pain but the acupuncture has made me feel so much better!

Em39ma · 12/09/2019 11:09

I’ve getting the horrible taste in my mouth for a couple of weeks. I had it at the beginning, so thought it was to do with my HG, but maybe not.
Dogs in big trouble, manage to catch a pigeon and DH had to finish it off. So he is now a bit down, understandably. Not sure she will get to one.
Hips been bad again.
Thanks @Ginmamma will have a look at that.

Cantthinkofanameeee · 12/09/2019 11:16

@newbabyyy2019 thankyou so much for replying...I totally see what you mean. And I feel so bad that you've been going through this since 20 weeks!!...I keep crying and I feel like nothings in my stomach...Its strange.Like I felt so full & pregnant & happy with my bump. And now I hate looking at it.Because I feel like it's not normal and shes so small in there. Its really getting me down.I feel like I cant be happy about my baby or pregnancy anymore. Its all just fear & thinking shes just sitting in their getting nothing. Not growing. And it's making me feel terrible.Im so so happy for you that you've kept your bubs going in there. And your so close now!Il be thinking of you Monday. Please let me know how it goes. And I guess like you say. They prepare us for the worst. So at least we know what could be coming at each scan...Its a horrible wait though.Dont know if I'd rather know or not X

Positivity86 · 12/09/2019 11:19

Hi everyone, not been on here in a while so thought I would say hello! I'm now 34+1 and have finished work which is lovely. I had a lot of annual leave to use up which is pretty much the whole of September. Had midwife this morning and she said baby's head is right down and engaged! I feel like that's quite early and was surprised...but as a FTM I don't know what's normal?
She is also checking my bloods to see if my iron levels have gone back up since taking the tablets.

I hope everyone else's scans and appointments go well 😊

Frizzy1986 · 12/09/2019 12:04

@Positivity86 for first time mums baby can be engaged fairly early (from around 34 weeks) They can stay that way for a while so it doesn't necessarily mean labour is imminent.

Its weird as I was never told that dd was engaged, yet I did have to have a scan at 36 weeks as they couldn't tell if she was breech or not. It turned out she was so low that they couldn't identify her head by feeling my bump. I had her 11 days later.

I went for a swim this morning and it was glorious. The only time when I have no pain at all which is so nice.

secretlyhermione · 12/09/2019 13:00

Hi ladies! I've had a good week, really enjoying my neonatal classes, feels like it's getting much more real! Baby continues to move around a lot in there, he/she has less space so feeling them quite a lot now! My colleagues surprised me with a lovely cake and presents, and they also wrote a note where they guessed the gender which is very sweet. Seems like more people think it will be a girl which is interesting! Am restarting my pilates in pregnancy classes today so looking forward to that. It's actually been quite a busy social week as been seeing lots of friends which has been nice. We live in a city and are contemplating whether to invest in a car so that may be the next big purchase! Thinking of packing my hospital bag this week - the midwife recommended two bags, one for mum and one for baby so need to see how to srt that out! Hope all of you are doing well, I'm on countdown till maternity leave, two days left!

secretlyhermione · 12/09/2019 13:01

@Positivity86 I also feel that baby has been engaged from quite an early stage, I'm 35 weeks today but have heard it's fairly normal for first time mums. Hoping she/he stays in there until it's time, especially as I have a wedding at 37 weeks and wouldn't want to miss it!!

YorkshireIndie · 12/09/2019 13:49

I keep on waiting to hear that this one is engaged. It has been head down since 28wks. Could swear it thinks it will create more space by pushing against my ribs 🙄

One week to go and then I can stop work!

@secretlyhermione Sounds like you are having a nice week

@HJWT How did the scan go?

HJWT · 12/09/2019 14:06

@YorkshireIndie Ugh, I think they are such a load of sh.t! He's gone from putting 10oz a week on to not even half a pound a week! Then she asked if id felt any leaking! Will have to see what the consultant says next week but I am just so confused 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

OP posts:
YorkshireIndie · 12/09/2019 14:31

@HJWT sounds like a ball ache

YorkshireIndie · 12/09/2019 15:21

What is everyone doing about nappies? How many of each size are you buying and which brands? I have brought some cotton wool and water wipes

Em39ma · 12/09/2019 15:42

Well that was a long midwife appointment. So as predicted I am now way off the scale in measurements.
So midwife phones local hospital and there a machine down so no space to book me in for 3 weeks!!!!!
So she then phones the next nearest hospital and speaks to a midwife there and she fortunately had the head of Hampshire obstetrics in the room with her.
He’s not happy I haven’t actually seen a consultant only the registrar.
He wants me scanned ASAP. So she then has to phone local hospital again, they are still refusing to book me in😡, so has to phone other hospital again and now being seen tomorrow at 12.
I feel so sorry for my midwife, because she is now 50 minutes behind and we all feel like banging our heads against a wall.

Positivity86 · 12/09/2019 16:13

@Frizzy1986 and @secretlyhermione thank you, that makes me feel a bit more reassured! I did start to wonder a couple of weeks ago when the lightening crotch started 🙈
I've had no Braxton Hicks since 28 weeks though which is strange.

@YorkshireIndie I've also bought cotton wool and water wipes, and for nappies, I've gone with Aldi as my SIL swears by them. Size 1 and 2 for the moment but I haven't gone too crazy in case we don't get on with them for any reason!
