Waters or pee?

I'm 38+1 with dc2.

Went to the toilet before and as I sat down there was a bit of a gush. I did need a wee but it didn't feel like I was weeing and I proceeded to wee after said gush.

Could it have been my waters? What do you guys think?

Also there was a bit of mucus plug when I wiped

Did you manage to collect any of the 'water' - if I remember rightly it dries in a funny way like long crystals if it is your waters breaking.

If you think your waters could have broken I’d advise calling the midwife. That’s what I did when I thought it happened to me and that was only a teeny trickle! They then came round and checked for me. Good luck!

I didn't manage to get any but I've got a pad on now so hopefully there'll be something.
I rang my midwife and she said she'll call in an hour to see if the pad is dry or damp.
Fingers crossed that it's the real thing!!

I'd advise putting a pad on and waiting an hour. If you get clear or slightly yellow liquid it's most likely waters. They have a distinct smell - not like urine.

Mine went at 38+1 too Smile

Any update? Hoping so

Lexyness · 13/07/2019 18:39

If it helps, with my first my waters went whilst on the toilet but I heard/felt a distinct ‘pop’ as well! And it was a distinct sweet smell like wet hay!

Mrsmummy90 · 13/07/2019 18:40

No more waters but some mild period style cramping. I've been getting contractions every night for a couple of weeks so don't want to get my hopes up. Confused

That happened to me with my first and I assumed it was just pee and my crap pelvic floor. Until I went into labour a week later and they told me all my waters were gone!

Mrsmummy90 · 13/07/2019 18:43

Omg I really hope it doesn't take a week for this baby to come 😂🙈

@Lexyness with my dd I had a spectacular pop and gush which was unmistakable. This is just confusing lol.

Have you spoken to the midwife? Mine gave me a 24hr countdown from waters breaking as there's a risk of infection. I think they should check you out if you suspect that's what it is.

Mrsmummy90 · 13/07/2019 19:58

Yeh I spoke to her and as the pad is still dry, she said she's not convinced that it's my waters. Told me to keep an eye on it and call her if anything changes.
So frustrating lol

I had a definite pop when my waters went and they were still leaking out over an hour later when I got to hospital. Had to sit on a puppy training pad to protect the car seat!

Lexyness · 13/07/2019 23:09

@Mrsmummy90 I didnt have anything spectacular with any of mine! Barely any waters (and they didn’t leak beforehand either) with dc2 the waters went and it didn’t even soak through my thin summer trousers 😳 wore the same pair to hospital! Same with dc1 just the pop when I went to the toilet and a tiny amount came out but I just knew it was my waters, contractions started a few hours later and dc1 was born within 20hours. No further amniotic fluid though! I’m so paranoid that I don’t carry much fluid that I keep asking them to check at the growth scans I’ve had but they say all is fine this time round!
Fingers crossed things start for you soon x

Mrsmummy90 · 13/07/2019 23:42

@Lexyness that's really lucky! I'm terrified of having a ginormous amount of waters break in public 😂

Still nothing! I had some cramps but they've stopped. Hoping I get woken up by labour but highly doubt it now.
