30 week scan - sex of the baby?

Hi,

At my 20 week scan we found out that we're having a little girl but they say 'there's no signs of it being a boy' to cover themselves.

I need to have a 30 week scan because I had LLETZ treatment last year and I have a low lying placenta. If I ask, would they be able to have a look and see what the sex of the baby is or because the baby is bigger now will it be harder to tell because of it being cramped in there?

My husband's siblings have 7 little boys between them so we're thinking it's a little too good to be true that we have managed to get the first granddaughter for his parents 😂. We've already done a gender reveal and I'm not too concerned but just curious.

Thank you!

I had a scan at 31 weeks and I could clearly tell it was girl.

I had a growth scan at 35 weeks and they were able to confirm again that I'm having a boy but I don't know if its different for a girl. Couldn't really see much on the scan tbh

At my 20 weeks scan they ‘guessed’ at a girl, it was difficult to tell because her legs were clamped tightly shut! I have since had growth scans at 26, 30 & 34 weeks and another one booked at 38 weeks! I ask them to check for me every time 🤣 if baby pops out and is a boy then he will be wearing lots of pink for his first few months 😂
I find if they get a good view then it is quite easy to tell even now it’s all squished in there lol! Tbf though my sonographers have asked at the beginning of each scan if I know what I’m having and are more than happy to offer to check for me!

I had lots of scan throughout and they told me everytime that baby is definitely a boy. They will be able to see ☺️

At my 20 week scan the sonographer said she thought it was a girl, at 30 week was told definitely a girl, so it's a good time. Our 30 week was a private 4d one but they could tell before going into 4d.

An update: I asked and she was able to confirm that she was definitely a girl, glad we asked because you could see the girl bits a lot clearer on this scan! Great to get a definite answer and was so interesting that you're able to see that much detail! Xx

Glad you got your answer.
We were told girl at 20 weeks and DC is very much a boy!

TankGirl97 · 16/07/2019 18:41

Congratulations op! I had scans every four weeks and they checked every time lol. I think when it’s a girl there is a slightly higher risk of the sonographer being wrong so they always seemed keen to double check.

Nothing is definite! A family I know very well were told at several scans that they were having a girl. When the baby arrived recently, it was an extremely unexpected BOY!
