Size 12 and pregnant

This is our first baby and we are so excited however we still in very early days. I am only 4-5weeks

I am currently size 12 and hate the way I look. I'm 5 ft 2 so I know I'm over weight for my height but I'm really worried about getting ALOT bigger during pregnancy. I know that sounds silly because I know naturally I am going to get much bigger.

Any tips on how to keep fat down throughout pregnancy?

Stay active as possible and don't over eat! Keep portions at normal size until the last 3 months when you need just a couple extra calories a day (2 extra pieces of fruit for example). Try and walk for 30 mins at least every day ☺️

Nah - forget about your weight for the next year / 18 months. Just get though pregnancy as best you can (a lot of people need to constantly snack to avoid sickness), try and eat healthily but don’t obsess. It’s very tiring and eating cake etc is often the highlight of a tough day. Enjoy the fact you have a growing belly and embrace the curbs. Then when baby is 6 months do the blood sugar diet / fast 800 by Dr Micheal Mosley and get to your preferred weight.

Congratulations!! I can relate. This is my first & I started overweight, size 12 & was concerned. It's the last thing you need on your mind. I started out eating as healthily as possible, smoothies to pack in nutrients, got my my steps in every day etc.

However, I ended up really nauseous from week 6-11 & could barely eat/drink. Fitbit hasn't been on since. I lost 8lb. I'm now 18 weeks & that's me just put the 8lb back on. Appetite is getting better but I still eat less than pre pregnancy & in all honesty I really wish I could've enjoyed food & took the weight gain that came with it.

I'm gaining about 2lb a week now & happier.

Don't worry if it doesn't go how you expect!
All you can do is try to make healthy choices where you can, symptoms permitting! Remember a lot of the weight won't be from fat anyway & you might get bloating. Although I lost weight I've been in maternity clothes for a while. Excess weight can be lost once your new baby's here. For now just make sure you look after yourself, listen to your body & get the rest you need Smile

I'm a size 14 and about 5"6. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and expected to be huge at this point and swelled all over but I'm rounding quite nicely. I put on quite a bit over the first trimester because of the sickness causing me to eat carbs and beige food but now I only really have aversions to meat, no cravings etc so can just eat as usual. i have spinal arthritis which makes exercise really difficult too but I currently weigh less than my pre pregnancy weight - so don't assume that because you started overweight that you will gain rapidly. I haven't at all!

I know everyone says it but everyone's bodies react so different. I put on about 10kilos and I barely looked pregnant. Baby came out 5lb 3oz and my stomach was back to normal 3 days on (I'm a size 10). I ate normally throughout pregnancy but definitely gave into cravings like ice cream and nachos! Don't sweat it you're growing a human ☺️

I'm the same height and size and was very worried about this when I got pregnant! As PP said, try and keep active, aqua aerobics is good and once you get bigger it's nice to have half an hour of feeling weightless! I actually found that because I'm quite short the baby took up all the space so I couldn't eat much after about 20 weeks! I was the slimmest I've ever been a week or two after having him! So try not to despair, it may well be fine

I'm 21 weeks and 8.10 stone and that's all boob and baby weight lol that I've put on.
Just eat normal. You don't need to eat for 2 or anything so no need to put weight on.

Everyone's body reacts differently. Mine seems to just store calories no matter what I do during pregnancy. Baby #1 I ate whatever I wanted and gained 3 stone. Baby #2 started at the same pre-pregnancy weight as I did first time, was mega careful about everything I put in my mouth as I felt I'd gained too much with the first pregnancy, and I gained..... 3 stone 🤷🏻‍♀️

If I had another baby now I wouldn't bother being overly strict, I'd just try and eat healthily and sensibly
