Miscarriage hasn't happened

I’m currently going through a miscarriage (1st pregnancy) the embryo was 6weeks 6 days and it’s heart stopped on the 12th June. I have bled since that date, but two scans later, my uterus is still closed and the pregnancy sack is still at the top of the uterus. I’ve not heard of anyone going this long without it being expelled. I am booked in for the medical management on Tuesday, but I still think I’d like to wait. My question is has anyone gone this long and longer ( I’m thinking of going to 6 weeks) with it happening naturally and still being safe?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a missed miscarriage in March, I found out at a scan at 9 weeks that the baby had stopped developing at 6 weeks, and my body still hadn't naturally miscarried when I went in for surgery at 11 weeks. They didn't seem concerned that it had been that long x

I had a mmc last month and opted for the surgical management. Having had a natural miscarriage in the past I would 100% recommend going for surgical management, it’s over quickly and painlessly, and you can then move on with your life whether that be trying again or taking time out to grieve. I’m so sorry you are going through this, it’s a really tough time. May I ask why you don’t want medical intervention? x

Thanks both. I think I'm worried about complications. My doctor said I should take the tablets first because surgery has a higher rate of complications. He also said that he's willing to support me in waiting longer too. At the minute, 4 weeks in, I feel physically fine. I'm sad about it all but I'm also trying to be pragmatic. I just don't know anyone who's waited this long. It's becoming frustrating- which is why I have the medical treatment booked for this Tuesday. But I'm now questioning that. 🤨

I was kept waiting for just over 6 weeks. I was bleeding the whole time but nothing was being expelled. By then I just wanted it over with but all the male drs so far had said wait and see. I finally saw a woman who booked me in for an ERPC the next day. Thanks

I went for a scan due to bleeding at 12+1. Baby had stopped at 6/7 weeks. They left it at week and scanned again in case my dates were wrong. They weren't.

They told me I could wait, take tablets or have a D&C. I chose a D&C and was put to sleep. I didn't want to be aware of any of it. I was heartbroken.

Surgery rolls around 10 days later, and the sac was still in tact. I woke up with no pain and minimal bleeding.

Went on to conceive 4 months later and am now 32 weeks.

My advice is do what you feel is right for you and your situation . The NHS are wonderful and will support you in any decision you make.

I am so sorry for your loss. X

I had a missed miscarriage. I waited 4-5 weeks for it to happen naturally (stopped growing around 6/7 weeks, found out at 10 weeks).

It didn't happen and I found the weeks on continuing morning sickness etc hard.

In the end I went for the tablet option.

Went home, waited, sat on the loo for a few hours after it started and then went to bed. I was really worried it would be really bad but it was ok (more detail on the miscarriage support thread). The suppository pain killer they gave me was really good.

Sorry you are going through this. Hugs.

I'm now 7 months pregnant.
