Does it mean your blood clots too much?

Have the hospital/GP/MW given you much info/support? Have they recommended other things that may help?

sparklygothkat · 28/07/2007 21:18

was told nothing, I saw it on my maternity notes, on a blood test result form.

yes blood clots too much.

they should discuss it with you especially as you have a history of early labours

i know protein levels can fluctuate in PG
definitely worth a conversation with MW

i don't like it when they write something significant to you on your notes and then don't explain it - may be nothing but would be nice to know

(also, did your buggy turn up?)

sparklygothkat · 28/07/2007 21:23

they tried to deliver the buggy after we went away for a few days (am on SIL's pc atm) but they will keep it at the depot for a week so can pick it up next week)

I have to see the consultant in 10 days as they are concerned about LO's growth and have to have another scan.

its been underlined that I must be tested after I have the baby too

grr at DHL
i had to inject heparin during my PG as i have unexplained clotting issues (have had a couple of DVTs)
hope that you get some answers from the consultant and all is ok

sparklygothkat · 28/07/2007 21:27

The consultant thought that I had a blood clotting disorder and that was what caused my preterm labours before, so have been on asprin since 10 weeks, and it seems he was right, just would have been nice to know that they did find out something and explained it.

Defo bad form not telling you about it. Would start stamping your feet and ask for more information regarding its impact on you and the baby. For instance, do they believe this condition is affecting the baby's growth?

I hope all goes well with the scan. I'm sure you know this, but growth scans are very inaccurate when it comes to estimating the baby's weight.

sparklygothkat · 28/07/2007 21:40

am only 25 weeks, but the measurements of his stomach have dropped, so they just want to check if it was a mismeasurement or he is slowing down in growth

Also DS and Dd2 had IUGR and were small for dates

and I know that growth scans are crap at estimating baby's weight, they told me that DS would be 4lb at term, he was 5lb at 36 weeks

Am very confused ny it all, they said on the report that they are low but according to some websites, its not that low.

Hi,
i had my blood tested due to recurrent mc and was told i had protein S deficiency and would need Clexane and baby aspirin to thin the blood as a precaution against another mc.
This i did all the way through my pg with DS2 who is now 9mo and i was induced a week early due to the risk of haemmorage to me at birth. All turned out ok.
I then fell pg again when DS2 was 8wo! but am seeing a different consultant this time who says that due to my blood being tested whilst pg they don't know if i really am protein S deficient as all pg women have fluctuating protein levels. (i'm soooo confused now!) I still have to take the baby aspirin and am on clexane again but only until 34w pg.
I've already got 3 DC and so far have never had a preterm labour(apart from being induced with the last one) tho!

I had protein S deficiency when pregnant..was put on low dose aspirin..Rubyslippers is my twin..and as she has said, she had some DVTs, so there was some question over whether i had some blood clotting issues

i went into labour at term..but as you have a history or prem labour, needs to be looked at more closely

i had my bloods tested postnatally, at 5 weeks post birth and levels were all normal
