how old were your dc when there eyes changed colour from newborn blue?

hi just wondered how old your children where when there eyes became the colour they stayed? our dd is 4 and a half weeks old and still has blue eyes. im pretty sure theyll turn brown though me and dh both have brown eyes
although my dad and dh mum has blue

I can't remember the exact age but dd still had blue eyes 6 months old. They started to turn brown not long after that so there's still plenty of time for your dd's eyes to change if they are going to.

My dd2's eyes have stayed blue much to my surprise, as neither dh or I have blue eyes.

I don't know, kitten. My ds was born with grey eyes, and they've remained that colour ever since.

Someone will come on, hopefully, with something very clever to add about X & Y chromosomes!

DS is 9 weeks - his eyes are changing colour now

dd1's turned brown at about 6 months I think.

re your dd.....mind cranking back to A-level biology..... I think she has a 1 in 4 chance of staying blue. But I may be very wrong about that and will await some supremely clever MNre doing a PHd in genetics (there is one I think) to come and tell you definitively.

DH has brown eyes and i have green eyes

All 3 of mine kepy blue eyes but they went different shades of blue from about 5mths. Ds is 3.9yrs and his in the past couple of months have developed hazel flecks in them.

as both ur parents have blue eyes the both have 2 of the blue genes so u and ur dh have a brown and a blue each so there is a 50% chance ur dd has blue eyes

My dd was two years old when her eyes turned green.

Two. Hers went from that murky grey blue to pure green.

She's 4 now. Still very green eyes!

Afraid eye colour is far more complicated than that, starshaker, as several geneticists who use the board have pointed out in detail in the past.

DS1's changed around 5 months to very dark brown.

DS2's (nearly 8 months) I have to say are absolutely beautiful at the moment, they are green in the middle and a very dark navy blue on the outside, I am hoping they stay like that but I suspect they are still mid-change.

Mine were all brown from birth.

Not till they were several years old.

DD2's were brown from birth.

DS1 was 3, DD1 still has blue eyes and she is 4 next week and the youngest went green after about 9 months.

neither of mine had blue eyes at birth - both kinda hazel like mine, ds1's have stayed exactly the same, ds2's have darkened.

Starshaker, each parent has one brown and one blue gene so the baby could have inherited brown/brown, blue/brown, brown/blue or blue/blue. However, brown is dominant and blue is recesive, so only the last combo would give her blue eyes.
So it's a 25% chance of blue eyes.
Don't know when the colour sets though.
