Okay so, I've been feeling a little weird lately so done a test out of the blue, my periods are irregular always have been, so I never know when I'm due on (it's a pain)

I've used these strips before but never really got on with them, but I had these anyway so done one.

Can you see a second line or is that just evaporation or whatever? If you can see a line, why is it so faint?!

Or am I being a complete idiot and imagining the whole thing 😅

Are they in date?
It could be evaporation line, but I f they are out of date could just give you a weird reading

KJ26 · 09/07/2019 11:04

Yep all in date ☺️

I had a weird one too very similar to yours I think!
Not convinced (but secretly hoping)

Oh I do kind of see it.

When I had one almost invisible like that I took a FRER later that day (so not FMU) and it was quite a clear BFP.

BertieBotts · 09/07/2019 11:34

I can't see a line. Wait 48 hours, test again. That's the best thing to do with squinters. Sometimes when you're on the cusp of the hCG amount to trigger the test you'll get very faint lines.

BertieBotts · 09/07/2019 11:40

And IME if you take another too soon/try different brands etc you'll just drive yourself mad looking for differences and overthinking it, not to mention spending a fortune. And if you're so on the cusp you're getting squinters too faint for a camera to pick up properly, it's quite likely you'll get inconclusive results since the level of hCG in your wee will fluctuate slightly based on how hydrated you are, how fast it's doubling (if you're pregnant) and how long it's been since you last had a wee.

Alice7 · 09/07/2019 11:47

I can see a line 😊

KJ26 · 09/07/2019 12:33

Thank you everyone for your help! I will do another test in 48 hours and see what happens ☺️

KJ26 · 11/07/2019 07:55

Ok so, this is the test after 48 hours, what we thinking here? Cos I'm 80% sure I can see two lines, but I'm not sure 🙈

I can see a second line but it looks a bit far over to be THE second line. Have you tried. FRER, they're by far the best on the market. Wouldn't touch blue dye tests with a bargepole

BertieBotts · 11/07/2019 08:14

That is still looking a bit ambiguous. However doctors unlikely to do anything unless you've waited a week or two. I would keep an eye out for signs of ectopic pregnancy just in case though. Sorry that isn't a more reassuring answer. Do you know when your last period was? And how irregular is irregular usually?

It might be worth trying a First Response but they are pricey and the cheapy ones should show up eventually.

KJ26 · 11/07/2019 09:48

My last Period was on 27th June til the 1st July, and very very very irregular, literally it's a joke lol
Thanks though 🙂 xx

So your period started two weeks ago? Most women only ovulate about two weeks before they have af...

Gustavo1 · 11/07/2019 10:10

I don’t tho l tent look like positive tests. I’m not sure you could be getting a positive so close to your last period. Maybe give it 7 days and try again?

devilishlygood · 11/07/2019 11:15

None of these tests are positive right now.

OP, I would try testing in a week or two...perhaps leave it til after a period would come (if you were regular, I understand that you’re not but you may still ovulate in the same window etc) ie 28days after 27 June.

KJ26 · 11/07/2019 11:18

Thanks all!
Will wait until next period, I've got a calculator thing to try and determine when I'm due etc, will see what happens then xx

I don't see any lines, sorry OP.
FWIW, this is mine at 8dpo on one of those tests, followed by an frer

OK. It's impossible that you'd be pregnant so soon after your last period, and with lasting four days it probably was a period, rather than an implantation bleed.

Even if you ovulate very early in your cycle, you still need a few days between the end of your period and ovulation, otherwise the womb lining wouldn't be thick enough to sustain a pregnancy, meaning an egg couldn't implant. So you need a good 10 or so days between CD1 and ovulation to be able to even get pregnant. At the moment you're only on CD14. And then even if you had ovulated on CD9 or CD10 (which is unlikely but possible), you still need to wait a week or two after ovulation in order to pick up hCG from an implanted pregnancy. If you tend to get your period sooner than this, then it's possible that your luteal phase isn't long enough to sustain a pregnancy either.

What does "very very irregular" mean though? e.g. what's your shortest cycle length and longest? If your periods are extremely irregular, I'm wondering how you can use a calculator?

If you're trying to conceive it would be useful to track your cycles and look for patterns of ovulation so that you can work out how long each part of your cycle has been as if they are too long or short this can cause problems and you'd want to see a doctor sooner rather than later.

Aslipperyfish · 11/07/2019 12:03

I do see it but it’s super faint so I can’t tell!

I have done a few with the cheap tests and mine started off like that so fingers crossed!
Mine was that faint at 11 DPO.

I’ve got a more prominent line today on one of those tests but it’s still faint (AF due today and hasn’t made an appearance Grin) so I’m going to get a FRER tomorrow to take on Saturday.

Fingers crossed for you

SunshineSophia · 11/07/2019 14:21

I can see two lines, OP! :)

KJ26 · 23/08/2019 19:28

Congrats!! Was the period in July your last? Means you're likely 7 and a bit weeks along.

KJ26 · 23/08/2019 19:51

26th of last month x
