Hi

I had this with DC1 but not until well near the end. So bit surprised to be getting them now. Normal? 😳

Thanks x

How strange, I'm 15+1 and last night and this morning had the same thing. Not very mild though, actually quite strong in the sense I shot up and it made me gasp. No idea what it is so watching. This is my 3rd baby

Hi! It feels like a Braxton-Hicks - does it for you? I don’t know whether to tell the midwife or not...

Have u ever had a UTI OP? When I've had one I've had a similar feeling afterwards (not been in labour before (yet) so difficult to say if exactly same thing....)

Hi. Thanks for replying. Yeah I have...doesn’t burn when I wee but maybe I should drop a sample off. Can’t decide whether to tell midwife or not - would you? I think the party line is always if there’s no bleeding it’s ok, isn’t it?

I would get it checked to rule it out.

I was going to suggest UTI as well. Although reading funkybum's post jogged my memory and actually o had something similar on my first, which I'd completely forgotten about. Almost like I'd been holding it in too long (I hadn't, I was weeing all the bloody time) and the muscles were relaxing. Wasn't anything in my case but best to mention it to your midwife.

Thanks. Hmm no they are definitely Braxton-Hicks now - just had a really big one.

I have had many UTIs, and have never had burning when I wee, so don't rely on that as a symptom.

UTIs can bring on early labour if severe, so yes mention it to your midwife.
During pregnancy I noticed I was having odd cramps as I travelled to work one morning, it was ramping up so I called the midwife and they asked me to pop in.
Turns out I did have a UTI, which was causing the cramps/contractions and they immediately put me on antibiotics and monitoring - it cleared up then with no ill effects, but glad I got it checked!

I would definitely ask the midwife to send off a urine sample. If it gets worse it might be worth ringing your maternity triage for advice, you may be able to get antibiotics (if needed) quicker that way

Rang my midwife - who talked over me and said ‘they definitely wouldn’t be Braxton hicks and is probably just my uterus stretching’. I know what a Braxton hick is and I’m having them. 😡😤 god sometimes I think midwives really do patronise you!!!
