I'm 17 weeks, this is my third child.

With my second, I felt movement as early as 15 weeks. But this time round I hardly feel anything. For some reason, I'm experiencing a lot of worry with this pregnancy. I thought I'd feel things early on as it's my third. Has anyone else had this? Should I be worried :(

I'm 21 weeks now baby 3 and although I felt a little around 17/18 weeks I wouldn't say I felt anything much until 19ish weeks? I have an anterior placenta again that doesn't help but each baby is different and depends where they are inside you etc you might just not be able to feel it yet.

At my 16 week appointment midwife asked bout movement and said not to worry if I didn't feel anything before 24 weeks. If you're really worried maybe get an appointment to see midwife but it is still very early

Maybe your placenta is on the front wall? My first was like this and I felt way less movements.

I never felt my 3rd until I was 23 weeks! I don't honk it's abnormal at all to not have felt much at 17 weeks. Of course call your midwife for advice rather than listening to us though.

Never felt anything that early, every pregnancy is totally different, I think my first slept for 9 months ! I Hired a dopler as he hardly moved and it worried me and I got the cooler out every day when I got home from work

I had read yesterday about the placenta being different to other pregnancies, don't really know much about it though.

Also thought about getting a Doppler. Never had one before but I know a lot of people advise against them.

I paid to have a private scan last Monday and he was in an awkward position at the time. Upside down and facing my spine, but thought he would have moved by now.

Don't understand why I'm overly panicky this time.

@kamikazeee remember at 17 weeks they're small enough that even if they moved position you might now be able to feel them stills.
It's really normal not to see movement yet even with a 3rd pregnancy! I would see your midwife for a chat before buying a Doppler I know a lot of people use them for reassurance but trained professionals struggle to use them and advise against them. It's much better to be seen than Rey on a piece of equipment you're not trained to use .

I’m 25 weeks with 3rd pregnancy and my placenta is anterior ( at front so masks and cushions babies movements) and I’ve o it really felt strong movements in the last 2 weeks so from 23 weeks ish.
My 2nd baby was only last year and I also had anterior yet I felt strong movements from about 18 weeks, so very pregnancy really is different.
My midwife said they wasn’t concerned about movements until 24 weeks and baby is so small at 17 weeks still so I really don’t think you have anything to worry about. Although I know easier said than done.

You think every pregnancy you will be less anxious but I think it’s other way round lol

kamikazeee · 07/07/2019 20:51

Yeah it's definitely the other way around this time 😂

I'm wondering if it's because I know it's my last so feeling weird unnecessary pressure haha.
