When is it acceptable to buy a pregnancy pillow?

Without looking like I'm milking the whole pregnancy and being uncomfortable thing.

I would have bought a pregnancy pillow when I'm not even pregnant, I sleep with one pillow long ways down my body that I kind of.. hug? I wrap myself around s pillow at night anyway.

But I'm only 11/12 weeks pregnant, lying on my belly (and 34G boobs) is quite uncomfortable but it's how I've always fallen asleep, I cant sleep on my back and when I'm on my back or side I have really achy, restless legs. Someone recommended putting a pillow under my legs to help with the aching.. so I wondered if I can get away with buying a big comfy pregnancy pillow now? Even though I dont exactly have a bump, just a lot of bloat.

Or any other recommendations to get a comfortable night sleep in this heat?

Just get one! My first pregnancy I waited ages to feel "properly" pregnant before I bought maternity/ pregnancy stuff...this time I was in my maternity jeans as soon as I got my bfp! Make your life easier, pregnancy is uncomfortable enough as it is!

I got a u shaped one on ebay which is fab. The only negative is it does make it more difficult to cuddle up to dp in the night. I do miss that, but it's basically the only way I can sleep at the moment!

Acceptable? Who is going to judge a person for getting a pillow? Uncomfortable is uncomfortable!

I got one at... I can't remember actually. 11 or 12 weeks due to finding it hard to sleep on my side due to shoulder pain. Although I've been doing quite well and if I'm honest by morning have usually kicked the thing away haha. I do need something to support my hips though.

I got the dream genii pillow though but sure how much i like it. Well see. I didn't want the big v shaped one though. Either way it gives my back a bit of support etch stupid me rolling into a bad position due my shoulder.

Buy the pillow. It can double as a barrier to keep DH on his side.

I got one around 16 weeks as my hips were in a lot of pain. I've not really used it now I'm in the third trimester as got a new mattress and I felt more comfortable without it. If it's beneficial to you now, why not get maximum use out of it? Smile

My friend is 14 weeks and bought one a while ago. Her view is that everyone should have one, pregnant or not.

If you need additional reasons, sleeping on your front can cause neck problems so if the pillow helps you sleep on your side - even better!

I never had wanted or needed one. But if you do then surely any time would be acceptable?

Buy now, and buy a BBHugMe. I had one from about 14 weeks (awful pain in SI joint) and have more than got my money's worth out of it... slept with it throughout pregnancy, used it to lean against during labour, made hospital beds much more comfortable, and now fab back support for breastfeeding in bed.
