This is my second DC and I have had flutters since 16 weeks and for the past 2 weeks my DH and DS have been also able to feel movement and I have even got a kick on video. The past few weeks the baby has been pretty active but yesterday and today there has been less movement, although still some. Should I be concerned or just assume baby has turned around a bit so it isnt as obvious? My bump also has been less pointy than usual when I'm lying down so I'm inclined to think they are hiding a bit and any kicks I can feel aren't on the outside, more inside.

Sorry for the ramble but what are your thoughts? I know I'm too early for a pattern of movement and its the weekend now so an appt will potentially be more difficult to get. I have the MW next Thursday.

I would call in just in case provided you have tried laying on your side, drinking cold water or having a bit of sugar. I called around the same time and they told me to come in for a check up and he started kicking away as soon as I got there but better to be checked than not

I’m pregnant now, 38 weeks. I actually went through something similar, as it’s also my second pregnancy so from about 18 weeks I was starting to feel movement. I’d get days up to 24/25 weeks where I would panic a little that i had not felt much, but don’t think they are too concerned until about 27/28 weeks when the pattern is more obvious. As you say, the baby may have moved around as there is still plenty of space. Have you tried having a really ice cold glass or water or a very sugary snack? And if you are very worried, you could always ask your midwife x

Chances are baby has just loved. Especially if bump has changed shape. If you're worried always call. I know I'm my trust they sometimes won't see you before 24 weeks because baby is still small enough to "hide" away but most of the time they will.

In my area they'll always see you from 24 weeks for Doppler then 28 for the CTG trace

Typically since I posted my bump has gone pointy again and I just had some outside big kicks as well Hmm must have been hiding! I have been drinking some ice water in the last hour so that might have helped.

Thank you for replying! I'll definitely keep an eye and phone in from now if I do notice reduced movements though (even though I'm not up to 27/28 weeks) :)

Good to hear you've felt some kicks since your first post 😊 I'm 27 weeks and still having panic days with difference in movement. Just wanted to say that you should always ring your midwife or hospital if you are at all worried, no matter how far along, better safe than sorry. I ended up attending a hospital out of my area on a weekend away at 23 weeks! They were very accommodating and listened on a Doppler. There is some useful information on Tommy's website about reduced movement if you have any concerns further down the line
