Hello all,

I am no stranger to an itchy leg as I've had this symptom on n off with my last 3 pregnancies but this time (my fourth) it has come with a vengeance. Mainly at night but when I'm preoccupied it's not an issue but when I think about the itch it's unbearable.

Went to GP got bloods taken and will know on Monday of the results. It's only that area and I've done my research into the liver issues and I don't have any other symptoms relating to OC.

Any advice on how to cook this itch?

Tried multiple different moisturizers, doctor prescribed me with an antihistamine to take an night to help ease the itch so hoping that helps. I'm also in a cool almost cold bath at the moment which seems to be doing the job.

TIA.:)

Not itchy legs but horrendous itchy neck, arms and chest for 2/3 months of pregnancy during 2nd trimester. Just could not stop itching and worse at night as I would be hot and sweat. I tried everything and the only thing that did anything (actually cured the itch) was a £1.50 cream from Tesco. Had rose hip and camomile in it. Think it was just a cheap face cream but my god within 1 day I noticed a huge difference and within a week it had gone. Must have been the camomile I expect. You could try it? Or try putting camomile into the bath or just pure camomile lotion, same as you can use for chicken pox. X

Aqueous cream with menthol helps.

BlondeJay24;;

Do you remember what it was ? I am IN NEED of a good cream before my legs are bloody everywhere.

Going to try menthol in Tesco as soon as I can get up.

It’s kind and pure. The bottle is mint green and white in the toiletries section with the other face creams. The bottle isn’t very big as it’s a face cream but it worked on my body. Only thing that gave me any relief at all.

I’ve had icp previously and awaiting results of test for current pregnancy. I get itching at night too on my ankles and feet, I don’t have other symptoms, but they don’t always present. Itching levels don’t always correlate to bile levels either so it could be a mild itch and high levels and vice versa. Itching can also appear before levels show in blood so if it continues keep getting checked. Ice packs are helpful, icp support/itchy moms is a good Facebook support group if you do get diagnosed x

If you are shaving your legs it could be irritation from that. I never get shaving rash, can shave my legs with just a bit of conditioner and water, except when I am pregnant, where I get horrendous shaving rash and it itches like mad. I have to use my husbands shaving soap and brush and do it properly, otherwise I itch constantly. My skin is just suddenly way more sensitive. Fortunately my dh is sporting a beard at the moment so doesn't mind handing over his shaving gear!

God 17 years since my last pregnancy and I still remember the itch on my lower legs. It was horrendous. No liver problems. Lotions really didn't help. I made dh scratch them - very hard.

Would you consider an oatmeal bath?

My ob recommended accupuncture.

It stopped the day I delievered her.

Bunnybaubles · 06/07/2019 22:01

I used 100% arnica cream. It stopped the itching which I had suffered with for months until my mum gave me the cream. It also healed up the broken skin.

Positivity86 · 06/07/2019 22:04

I've been suffering with this also since 12 weeks...I'm now 24 weeks and it's not much better. It's mainly on my shins. Got some steroid cream from the doc which has helped slightly but they are still so itchy and sore. Not good this time of year when you want to wear dresses!

gabrielle1201 · 13/07/2019 22:01

The tests showed that I don't have the icp. So happy enough but still suffering. Going to try find some soothing cream to help me out. Thank you all!

I'm consultant led anyways due to shoulder dystocia in previous pregnancy so ill meant it to them if it's getting worse. Doesn't seem too bad now tho.

For the first few weeks after I found out I was pregnant I was itching like nobody's business all over my legs, arms, chest, back, face- it calmed down and now the only place I am itchy is over my varicose vein (due to pregnancy) especially the bits that used to be spider veins but are now great big red worms under the skin near my ankles- could it be increased blood flow and might it be worth lying down with your legs elevated to above heart level? Might give it a try!
