So this morning I went for my first scan thinking I was 13 weeks (actually 10+2), very nervous as first time mum. Over the moon when I saw that little heart beating only to be told there was something wrong with baby due to 3mm of fluid at back of babies head. Absolutely heartbroken me and my partner are left in a room on our own in bits and a doctor came to discuss the possibility of miscarriage or abnormalities but referred to a specialist unit in a week's time.
Speechless and broken we return home and then received a phone call from the hospital saying that actually the specialist unit have reviewed scan images and don't need to see us and just have to have a routine 12 week scan. Told that baby probably isn't formed enough to tell if fluid is actually abnormal!
All in the space of a morning!
Has anyone else had a similar situation with good outcomes? 🙏🏻

My baby bad 2.9mm of fluid at the back of her neck at 13 weeks.
Was told we had a 1 in 85 chance of downs. Had a Harmony test which came back as 1 in 10,000 chance.

I'm now looking at a healthy little girl.

I’m sure they can only do an NT scan at 11 weeks + so I’m surprised they did one when they found you were only 10 weeks. And I thought anything under 3.5mm is ok? I hope that everything is good news for you in the future, that must have been so frightening! I’ve just had the test done on my little one (I’m 13 weeks) and they get back to you within the week about results.

That's what I thought as they normally do the bloods for abnormalities at 12 weeks? But hopefully everything will be ok in the next couple of weeks! Good luck with your little one 🤞🏻🙏🏻

Aww, I'm happy for you for the outcome! I've got a routine 12 week on the 19th so praying that little one grows out of the fluid 🙏🏻

My DS's measurement was 2.9 abs nobody said a thing. The threshold here is 3.5 so 3 would be classed as normal, although at 10 weeks it might be less accurate.

Hang in there and wait a couple of weeks, and try not to stress. I had the harmony test this time and the results were available within a week, I would recommend that if you've got the cash.

Ah that's interesting, see the doctor's never explained anything, I only knew it was 3mm because I read my notes, they basically left it as there's something wrong with baby, it could either die in two weeks or could be perfectly fine...🤦🏼‍♀️ I think I probably will go private and get tests done
