Confirmed pregnancy via IVF will I know if I misscarry ? Nervous first time

So me and my DH just went through our second round of IVF first one failed. I have to wait untill the 25th for my first scan to confirm the pregnancy and hopefully see the heartbeat. I can't cope with the thought that I wait all that time and then there isn't a heartbeat so wondering if anyone has any advice on it? I would not bleed as have to take progesterone untill I'm told otherwise so that would maintain my lining...

So yeah.. nervous girly and think this is going to be the longest 20 days of my life!!

Thanks in advance xx

Very hard waiting, distraction can be good. Hope all will be well for you.

Been there, OP. Watch some boxsets and stay away from Google! Flowers

Congratulations, wishing you all the luck in the world 💐

@StarlyBeee hope it goes fast for you!!

I have my 6 week scan next Friday this is our first try at Icsi and we got a positive so we are very pleased about. I have had spotting since the beginning well about 4 days after transfer so it has been a long wait however I did have a heavy bleed yesterday so have had to up my meds and the bleeding has stopped but this has now become the longest wait of my life as am not very optimistic about the outcome now!

StarlyBeee · 04/07/2019 20:00

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF congratulations there's nothing more exciting than seeing that positive is there! I have become an addict to peeing on sticks! Oh wow you have a six week scan.. must be my clinic I have to wait another three 😩 so your five weeks like me. It's so hard to remain positive I'm to scared to have any positive feelings cause I don't want the heart break like last time but I it's wearing me down!

I heard bleeding is normal chick because of implantation?

I haven't had any bleeding or anything really just sneeze about fifty times a day and had bad cramps for four or five days xx

Just wanted to wish lots of luck

Hi I'm 27 weeks along following our second round of ivf after our first one failed too.. our hospital booked us in for a scan at 7 weeks to confirm pregnancy and they look for a heartbeat, if we didn't have a heart beat or if it was a mmc they would of let us know at that scan.

Good luck, let us know how you get on and congratulations x

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 04/07/2019 20:17

@StarlyBeee Thank you! Congratulations to you aswell! It was great to see that line and all the other lines and the digitals but I’m like I don’t want to get excited as I’m scared it could all go wrong and then yesterday I had a heavy bleed and cramps like af and I’m just deflated as I still have to wait and don’t know if I am still or not!

StarlyBeee · 04/07/2019 20:29

@melissa1215 Thankyou and congratulations to you also!!
What a journey eh!
@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF it's mega tough this guys that we have to wait 😩😩😩 they would have sent you for blood tests if they were worried to monitor your levels xxx

Congrats @StarlyBeee I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant following ICSI and we had our week viability scan last week at 8 weeks. I had lots of sneezing and cramping in first few weeks too, think the cramping was either uterus stretching or constipation (TMI, sorry!).

The wait is horrible, best advice I can give you is distract yourself as best you can and stay away from Google! I read so much about MC and MMC before the scan that I was convinced the ultrasound wouldn't find a heartbeat, but there was and little one was measuring right size too.

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 04/07/2019 20:42

@StarlyBeee I had an initial hcg blood test but they don’t do follow up ones so had to find somewhere to go and have one done which I did last Sunday and the level had gone up well but it’s now Thursday so I don’t know! I suppose I could see if I can get another one booked it’s all jist so stressful! But we will see! Xx

StarlyBeee · 04/07/2019 20:54

@TwistofFate aww it's so nice to hear someone who had good news did what I am doing! I am going google mad and know every time I reword my question that I will just have to wait. I just waited so long - 4 years in total with now DH for a positive and now I can't seem to enjoy it and feel negative :( never happy are we!! Congratulations and I'm so chuffed for you it all went well

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF I would ask for another just to put your mind as ease sweet! But I do I think if they thought it was bad news they would have done something so try keep your chin up and stay positive. I will try take my own advice also 🤣

@StarlyBeee I'm currently 22 weeks with my first ivf pregnancy

You can bleed even on progesterone. I did and was on a massive dose. I had brown spotting a 6 weeks and then bled for a week from 9-10 weeks including bright red! All was fine, it was just my cervix. I had scans both times.

Good luck. I just wanted to say don't panic even if u do. It's not always the worst news x

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 04/07/2019 21:05

@StarlyBeee thanks I’ll try!!

@PrayingandHoping thankyou for that it gives me some hope!!

StarlyBeee · 04/07/2019 21:31

@PrayingandHoping congratulations lovely! I bet your over the moon I honestly can't wait to get the scan over with and then start enjoying it!

I'm so happy for everyone's success story's and it really makes me feel positive :)

Not even spotting yet but we will see eh! Thanks so much 🥰

One day at a time Smile

I’m currently 13 weeks with out IVF baby - the first 12 weeks of pregnancy were really hard and it’s only since having the 12 week scan ( on Monday!) that I feel able to actually enjoy things and relax. We had private scans at 8+10 weeks as well as the clinic scan because my brain was just running wild and I was convinced the pregnancy wouldn’t work out - whatever you need to do to keep yourself sane!

Rememberallball · 04/07/2019 22:37

@StarlyBeee, congratulations on getting the positive result. I am 27 weeks today with twins conceived on my 2nd cycle of IVF. I went abroad for treatment and they did a blood test at 7dp5dt before we flew back to the UK which showed high levels of hCG (they had warned us it may be too early to get a positive blood result so we were pleasantly surprised).

My fertility consultant asked us to have 2 more blood tests once home - which I got at 13 and 15 days post transfer. The results were also very good and, again, indicative that I could be carrying more than one baby.

I had a scan 20 days after my initial blood test (so was 6+6) and the picture below is what they saw!!

Try and find things to keep yourself occupied for the next 3 weeks and good luck for the scan when it comes round xx

StarlyBeee · 05/07/2019 06:33

Thanks everyone for being so supportive, DH knows how I'm feeling but he i don't think he understands how much it's on my mind.

I know I will feel a lot better at 8 weeks I think at the moment will how long it took us to get a positive I can't accept it till i see it lol! My clinc don't do blood tests either.

@Rememberallball that's amazing did you have two embryos put back? Congratulations that is really amazing

@Missmonkeypenny haha that's something I would do but we literally just brought our first house aswell so I have lots to keep myself busy! Congratulations to you aswell! Xxx

OP posts:
Rememberallball · 05/07/2019 07:16

@StarlyBeee, yes I did have 2 embryos put back but, because of the size difference of my placentas and that both babies are the same gender, the fetal medicine consultant has said they cannot say for definite that they aren’t identical twins without doing genetic testing as one embryo could have completely split in 2 around day 6-8 post fertilisation!!
