Out of interest is anyone planning to go into labour with a shaven haven & silky legs or are you going with bushy au natural?

they used to do it for you - insisted on it

RGPargy · 27/07/2007 15:54

Brazillian!!

lulumama · 27/07/2007 15:57

shaven haven ?!?!?!??!?!/

this is not readers wives, you know!!

you don;t need to shave/ wax/ neaten or prune, unless you want to......

even if you have a c,s only the top inch or two of pubic hair is taken off

NAB3 · 27/07/2007 15:58

If it is a planned c-section I would shave yourself a bit as they dry shave you. Not pleasant.

Dropdeadfred · 27/07/2007 16:01

I wouldn't recommend shaving - it is so itchy when growing back and adding that to any other discomfort you may experience afterwards is jsut not nice!!

If you don't normally go for waxing it then I recommend you or your DP use nail scissors to just trim everything as short as poss. ( Makes it more hygienic with all the lochia and stuff afterwards too).

Good luck!

What about legs though?
Remember trying to have a go at shaving my legs the first time, but by the time i went into labour i was all stubbly again.
In my epiduraled state of calm with my legs up in stirrups it was all i could look at!

lulumama · 27/07/2007 16:08

you know what, no-one will actually care if your legs are stubbly or not!

Naetha · 27/07/2007 16:13

I'm going to give in and use my self-imposed torture device - my epilator.

It hurts like buggery, but is really good for getting a good, smooth stubble, itch and ingrown hair - free finish. As for the "undercarriage" so to speak, I trim it with the beard trimmer on DH's old electric razor - gets it short enough to be neat and tidy without getting itchy. Needless to say, actually getting anywhere close to the hair requires olympic style gymnastics.

moljam · 27/07/2007 16:18

have csection get shaved for free-not nice though.2 of mine came early so i went in with hairy legs, stinky feet and due a haiwash.lovely!

dal21 · 27/07/2007 16:23

remington bikini trimmers. way forward! couldnt face waxing right now! childbirth yes, brazilian no!

theressomethingaboutmarie · 27/07/2007 16:28

Naetha - you do know that several dictatorial states around the world use epilators to extract fake confessions from the innocent don't you

RGPargy · 27/07/2007 16:32

I must admit the brazilian thing is quite painful at the moment and i really have to bite my lip (on my FACE!!) when she does it!!!

Would much rather go all cave woman because tbh, i really cant be arsed with all that sex shinanigans at the moment. However, i feel too sorry for my DP to make him go without it for the next gazillion weeks!!!

Rach35 · 27/07/2007 16:33

theresomethingaboutmarie - LOL!!!! Finding it challenging to do bikini line now (34 wks) but also using beard trimmers - contortions in the shower v amusing and keep banging head on glass.... DH thinks its v amusing but won't help and says I should go to a professional!

Mumpbump · 27/07/2007 16:34

I had a wax the week before I was due last time. Don't think I will be doing it again as it absolutely killed!! Will probably shave and trim - or get dh to tidy me up if I can't see/reach!

RGPargy · 27/07/2007 16:36

Once i leave work i'll be too far away from my waxing lady to have the brazilian so i may just get the old pair of hair trimmers out and whizz out a number 1 all over. lol.

bananabump · 27/07/2007 16:37

Shaved mine completely bald when I could still reach a few weeks ago, so it's the perfect neat length now. Nothing to gawp at (hopefully!)

Rach35 · 27/07/2007 16:40

Bananabump - did you have to sit down with a mirror to do it? Sorry TMI poss but am intrigued?!

Jbck · 27/07/2007 16:42

DH has promised to do the needful when I can no longer reach, altho' I don't think I'd let him shave anywhere on me. I used Nair sensitive last time & the mw commented on how nice & neat I was when they'd decided to do a section, didn't need a hospital 'baldy' to go with everything else!

Naetha · 27/07/2007 17:21

I have to admit, I don't think I'd trust my DH near my bits with any kind of razor - electric or otherwise! Not just for my sake - I dread to think of the violence that would ensue if he nicked me. Having said that, I'm only 18 weeks at the moment, so if I can even reach down there when I'm 30+ weeks I'll be grateful!

On a slightly different note (but rather childish I admit) do people have any problems with wiping "down there" after going to the loo when they're the size of a house?

tokentotty · 27/07/2007 17:23

had my usual hollywood wax yesterday - am 38 weeks. Couldn't face going in au naturel.

Feckin' hurt like mad though, and I mean REALLY hurts !!

swalesie · 27/07/2007 17:32

I made sure i had a brazilian before the birth, did it myself with hair removing cream, i felt the need to look my best, even wore a nice evening dress to go to the hospittle in (7 in the morn). Just cos your having a baby its no excuse to let your self go.

Vicx · 27/07/2007 17:38

Naetha -To answer your question....Yes, but only cos i'm bigger than the world at the moment!

hayley2u · 27/07/2007 18:04

id shave. as you ll be all blody down there and easier to get clean without messing too much

bananabump · 27/07/2007 18:04

Rach35- No mirror, I just went very slowly and carefully with the razor and plenty of foam in the shower until it felt bald enough! I'm not sure it would have stood up to incredibly close scrutiny but you have an excuse when you're pregnant, sod it.

I would have used nair but my skin is too sensitive, last time I left it on for the recommended amount of time and really burnt my bits (1/2 hour prior to hot date)

Now I'm so close the state of my pubic topiary is the last thing on my mind (all the women due to pop told me this weeks ago and I didn't believe them!)

For the person who asked about wiping in late pregnancy....yes you can still reach enough to wipe, don't worry!! lol

Rach35 · 27/07/2007 18:53

Bananabump - v v brave and still laughing to myself. Think I might go with sitting in the bath with a mirror!? It is a nice feeling though feeling all tidy and neat!
