Cheap pregnancy tests

Has anyone got a false negative from a cheap test?
My husband bought a job lot off the Internet.
My period is late (usually bang on time, to the very morning), but the test said negative.
If there is no sign tomorrow or the next day, I'll buy an expensive test. We are TTC number two, so I guess I am just looking for some hope!

Don't buy a clear blue. They are shit. If you want to buy an "expensive" test then get a first response. Although they only have more packaging and marketing, the actual test is no better.

If you are pregnant, it's not a "false negative" it's simply that there isn't enough HCG to get a positive. Once there is, it won't matter how expensive the test is, the important thing is the sensitivity.

I bought teacos own brand it they are brilliant.

I found one step worked for me... The cgeapie ones. But were really faint. The cb ones were darker though still light compared to later on. But the cheaper Tesco ones were as good. Don't bother with the digital. They aren't as sensitive, over priced and don't really feel you much. I mean they told me how many weeks but i can work that out from my period.

Mondayblues7 · 04/07/2019 06:51

I used Morrisons own and also internet cheapies. (Plastic casing ones) All bang on.

Are you sure you didn't ovulate late this month and your AF isn't due yet?

I agree with CB digital are rubbish. The dye tests they do are all right though.

blueberrykitty · 04/07/2019 07:30

Don't even bother with the cheap ones !! I alway got the once which showed me in actual words if I'm pregnant. It tells me how many weeks on average and it also can tell you up to 5 days before your period of due. !! It's expensive but what's the point of keep testing which a cheap one that hardly shows you. Stop being a tight arse and get down that pharmacy ! 🤪🥰

Liverbird77 · 04/07/2019 08:07

@blueberrykitty not being a tight arse. We've just bought a house but we can't get out of our rental contract until August. We've got to pay mortgage, rent and two sets of council tax plus bills. That's over £3000 this month, before we get to food, petrol etc. I am on maternity allowance. I do hope you can appreciate that literally every penny counts right now.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your comments. Before dc 1, I was on a regular 27 day cycle. Since my periods returned it has gone down to 26 days. I am now on day 27/and still nothing. I guess I must've ovulated late. I took another test today and it was also negative. Oh well, we will just try again.

The cheap internet ones are the same as the NHS zones.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 04/07/2019 08:43

Ones.

Millsss · 04/07/2019 09:21

I used the dip tests from tesco, you get 2 in a pack for £1 absolute no brainer!
Worked for me the day after I was due on, absolutely agree on not buying expensive ones when they all pretty much do the same thing!
You may just not have enough HCG in your system, give it a couple of days and get down to Tesco!!

fonxey · 04/07/2019 09:37

@Liverbird77 ignore blueberry. Some people think that just getting the most expensive thing must make it better. The cb digital are pointless. Just a money grabbing gimmick.

Liverbird77 · 04/07/2019 09:57

With dc1 we used a cheap one the morning my period was late and it was negative. I just knew I was pregnant though. We did a first response later that day and it was positive.
I don't know whether that was because hcg had surged or because the test was rubbish!
I'll leave it two days and try again if there is no sign of AF. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

3 for 79p in Home Bargains. Showed my BFP 3 days before period due.

BarleyG · 04/07/2019 16:45

I got 30 for £3 (delivered!) from eBay. They showed up positive well 4 days before first response and clearblue

December2019 · 04/07/2019 18:32

@Liverbird77 I used the cheap ones too I got negatives until I was about 4 days late with my little boy
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you girl!

December2019 · 04/07/2019 18:34

@blueberrykitty I got a 2 pack of clear blue digital and one of them was faulty so for £15 I could have got over 100 cheap tests off eBay and they're the same ones they use in the doctors

Liverbird77 · 04/07/2019 19:36

Thanks! I am going to try to forget about it for the next couple of days which will take me to 14 since we dtd!
I shall update if there is good news!
