Hypnobirthing: Practical Ways to Make Your Birth Better by Siobhan Miller.
It has been really enlightening for me (first baby) - it's mostly common sense but the real birth stories has been really helpful. It doesn't tell you that you have to have your birth in a certain way, it simply tells you how to cope with whatever type of birth you end up having. The author herself has had three different types of birth.
Obviously I've not had my baby yet but anything that helps me stay calm and reduces the stress has got to be a good thing.

I found Marie Mongan's book good. There's some far out hippy-dippy bits in it, but the overall explanation of what happens during labour, and the visualisations and exercises are really good. I used a combination of this book with Maggie Howells hypnobirthing tracks and also some Gentlebirth tracks. My first DC I ended up being induced early but still found the hypnobirthing useful during the induction. Dc2 was born after an easy labour with gas and air and found the hypnobirthing techniques brilliant. Dc3 was goin the same way as dc2 but then I ended up with an emcs when I was 8cm dilated, hypnobirthing was fab during the labour and also helped to keep me calm during the emcs.

Good luck with it 👍

I always recommend Mindful Hypnobirthing by Sophie Fletcher. I’ve had 2 water births with no other pain relief now, based on the skills I developed through practicing her methods. I won’t claim that it was painless, or that I ‘breathed the baby out’ or any such thing, but it helped me feel a lot more in control. Also good for relaxing during pregnancy.

I also used the digital pack from the Positive Birthing Company for DC2, as a refresher. That was good too, but I preferred my first book.

Agree with @cakeordeath89. Read this in three days, also first pregnancy, and found it extremely useful. I also bought the digital course so devouring as much as I can.
