Were symptoms the same in all your pregnancies?

I am in the TWW and trying not to “symptom spot” too much but also cannot help but compare to my first pregnancy. I noticed sore boobs, bloating, gas, constipated, big spots under the skin (different from PMT breakouts) and tiredness, all before my BFP. I think sore boobs were the give away as I’d not experienced that before. So I assume I would have the same symptoms if pregnant again BUT I have also heard / read that symptoms can vary from one pregnancy to the other.

Just wondering what your experiences were if you’ve been pregnant more than once.

I've had bad sickness and nausea in both pregnancies. But in my first I also had a lot of bloating and a weird taste in my mouth, neither of which seem as bad this time around. In this pregnancy I've got really sore boobs which I don't remember from last time.

Thanks for replying @treelamp That’s interesting

My first symptoms were exactly the same- constant weeing and stretching pains, and they started a day or two before period due

However the 2 pregnancies were completely different

BlueMerchant · 01/07/2019 17:31

First pregnancy lots of sickness, stretching pains and bloating/wind. Second pregnancy 9 months later- nothing. No symptoms I can recall. Unsure whether be this could be because I had a baby to look after and all my attention was on them rather than thinking about how I was feeling etcSmile

AliceRR · 01/07/2019 17:35

Thanks @Passthecherrycoke @BlueMerchant It’s only 4 and a half months since my last pregnancy so part of me thinks my body might react differently to pregnancy this time because (a) it might be more accustomed to pregnancy hormones and (b) my body probably isn’t completely back to normal yet after giving birth 🤷🏻‍♀️

Im on baby no.6 & some have been the same but not totally ,this one has been the most different out of them all x

AliceRR · 01/07/2019 17:38

Thanks @Angelinthenightx

I suppose it’s very early symptoms I’m thinking - before AF was due - as I’m just trying to hold onto hope that I could be pregnant even if I don’t have the symptoms I had last time. I feel like sore boobs is the main one for me as I only had that when pregnant.

Four miscarriages and an ectopic - all had nausea and sore boobs etc

One successful pregnancy - zero symptoms until a couple of bouts of sickness at 14 weeks

PregnantWithThird · 01/07/2019 17:38

With my first two, I never once had sore boobs but this time round, they are so sore! Had horrendous sickness with the first two (HG with my first) but even though I feel horrible, it's not quite as bad this time round.

I'm pregnant with dc4 and all have been different.
1st one I felt tired and bloated and a little nauseous and went off tea and was really thirsty.
2nd, I knew I was pregnant from day one. I couldn't drink tea, could only eat small meals and was so so tired.
3rd, sorry if tmi but had a lot of discharge and felt so sick all the time but was ravenous.
I've only just found out this time and am nearly 9 weeks I think. I have had no symptoms, other than in hindsight, I've been quite thirsty.

Pearlfish · 01/07/2019 17:46

The very early symptoms were the same, but after the sickness kicked in it got worse each time (I have 3 DC).

AliceRR · 01/07/2019 17:51

Thanks everyone

Sorry about your losses @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted

Dc1 bloating, tiredness, nausea.
Dc2 bloating, unbelievable craving for mince for few weeks which quickly turned into unexpected vomiting that lasted the whole pregnancy.
Dc3 (only girl) I didn't realise at first but aniseed made me choke, for some reason the flavour became very intense, that is how I found out I was pregnant. Severe sickness soon followed, and stayed.
dc4 projectile vomiting ( I thought I had a sickness bug) after making garlic butter I could not get the smell of garlic off my hands for about a week, burst into tears watching moana - that's when I took a test.
There are certain muscle cramps I almost exclusively get when pregnant. A stitch along my knicker line and leg cramps.

AliceRR · 03/07/2019 08:54

@Spaghetticarbanana I get weird cramps and pains but I don’t know what’s what anymore as I feel hypersensitive to everything!

I had a lot of nausea and vomiting with ds1 and ds2 (with ds1 it stopped about 14 weeks, with ds2 it stopped about 16 weeks and came back with a hideous vengeance about 28), none with ds3. With ds3 I had the absolute rage (I once stood in the middle of the road offering a bus driver out for nearly running me over and I was fully prepared to kick his arse if he got out of the bus), with ds1 and ds2 I was more tearful than angry. I got swollen feet and hands with all of them. Massive boobs every time. Ds3 I really didn't know I was pregnant until much later than with the first two, I just did not get the earlier symptoms (nausea, vomiting, suddenly veined breasts, that odd "oh my period is starting oh no it's not" feeling, absolute desperate need to sleep). Made up for that later, by the time I had him I had put every so far childless woman in my office off pregnancy for a long long time).

This made me laugh. Sounds like me with PMT! Your pregnancies were all different then 🤔

Oh God it was slightly embarrassing after I'd calmed down Blush!

Yes, they really were. The births were too- all sub 3 hours but 3 totally different experiences. It's weird isn't it?
