Hi everyone, first timer here and I’m so not used to this or how things work so hopefully you guys can clear somethings up for me.
My LMP was 10.05.19, I tested positive on 10.06.19. When I went to my initial doctors they told me I was 6 weeks pregnant from my dates (last Monday) so I booked an early scan for Sunday (yesterday) for when I was 7 weeks. The scans were advertised from 6.
I went in and told them my LMP and they said I was 7w and 2d pregnant, they did the scan and told me I was measuring at 6w, there was no fetal pole or yolk sac.
Rushed down to the EPU this morning to be told my cervix is still tightly sealed, my lack of miscarriage symptoms look like all is fine etc. He also said that the private Sonographers were incorrect, and pregnancy is not measured from your LMP but your conception date. He asked when I ovulated (roughly the 26th May), he added 5 days on for implantation and told me I was actually only 4/5 weeks which is why I couldn’t see anything on the scan.
He took my blood and has sent it to the lab, and has asked me to come back on Wednesday to see if my HCG has doubled.
He said that the private Sonographers didn’t seem very good, and that I should’ve waited for my NHS scan.
Firstly, has anyone else got any experience with this? Right now I’m in limbo, been told by my sonographer it was game over and to expect the worst - been told by the doctor all seems ok!
Secondly, is there anything I can do or someone I can complain to with the Sonographers? They totally got my dates wrong and as a first time pregnant woman I’m not to know!!! I lost out on £100 and had a traumatising 24 hours. My work now knows because I was so distraught I didn’t turn up today! I feel like they should NOT advertise early scans, they are way too unpredictable, and they should also accurately do people’s dates!
Any advice or stories for me ladies??
