Sharp pain in left side - feels like a stitch?

I'm not worried about it as such but I'd like to know what it is! I'm only 10 weeks so I know it can't be baby kicking my ribs.

It's a sharp pain when I breathe deeply or move, I've had back pain recently and just used a hot water bottle to combat that but this is different.

Any ideas?

Is it lower stomach? At your stage I would suggest round ligament pain, so just a stretching of the ligaments while your uterus is growing.
Take a couple of ibuprofen and try not to worry.

If it's more ribs it could be related to the back pain you've had. Again I'd take pain killers and try not to think about it.

Congratulations BTW x

I had a similar pain a few weeks ago (18+3 now) but I think I was a little bit constipated! I had a bit of a sore tummy but I changed my drinking habits and try and eat a bit more fibre and I’ve been okay.

@bobthefishermanswife , I thought ibuprofen was not advised in pregnancy?

BobTheFishermansWife · 01/07/2019 11:00

@vapevamp12 you're right, I meant paracetamol. Sorry it's been a long night.

Yah sounds like round ligament pain. Paracetamol if it gets too bad, and hot water bottles. I'm 18+5 now so thankful it's gone but I did get it quiet a bit!

MummyBear405 · 01/07/2019 11:21

Thanks for the advice ladies, you're probably right I'm just trying not to rely on paracetamol too much so I'll see if the hot water bottle does anything for it.

This is a good sign though right? I'm still 2 weeks away from my 12 week scan and I'm a little worried that I'll get there & there'll be no baby. Even though I've had hardly any bleeding and no severe cramping so nothing to suggest anything is wrong ... feel like I'm going a little crazy!

I had the same pain in my back, thought it was a kidney infection as it was in the exact same place I'd had them before but urine test was fine and dr couldn't figure it out. However it seemed to ease when my constipation did so expect it was that! If it's at the front it could be round ligament pain though I didn't find that quite as sharp.

Sounds like round ligament pain - I had it from about 8 weeks, still have it now at 27 weeks!! Although it doesn't bother me as much now, a hot water bottle

MummyBear405 · 02/07/2019 16:27

@Triskaidekaphilia it came back today and I think it might be constipation as I don't think I've gone for a couple of days Blush

Did you use anything to get things going or did it just sort itself out?

@MummyBear405 I was just going to wait but Dr was keen to prescribe me lactulose which took a few days to work then helped a lot. I did eventually stop taking it when I had a D&V bug around 22 weeks, and didn't find I've needed it since, I still get the odd day of constipation now but not often.
