Feeling worse - is this normal?

Morning everyone - I've just had to phone in sick to work because I feel terrible (really sick/nauseous, headachey, my eyeballs feel achey and sore which is odd). I've felt like this for a couple of days now, and noticed that any social or physical activity I've done in the last couple of weeks has absolutely wiped me out.

I'm 14+5 and instead of feeling better in the second trimester I actually feel worse - I had tiredness and nausea in the first couple of months but nothing too bad.

Is it common to feel worse in the second trimester?

My nausea got worse before it began to get better, at around 12-13 weeks so similar to you. Sorry you’re feeling so rubbish! Hopefully if you can get through a week or two it might begin to improve.

Hi @AnonymousP - thank you; I hope you're right and this is the worse-before-better stage!

I'm really keen to get to this second trimester glow I've heard so much about 😄

Personally my second trimester was harder than my first, that’s where I had regular sickness and really extreme fatigue. Up until the last couple of weeks (I’m 39 weeks today) my third trimester has been my easiest. I’ve learnt there’s no such thing as ‘normal’!

Mine got worse about that time.
I’ve ended up all kinds of medication for HG, so I’m feeling better as long as I don’t forget it🤦‍♀️
But at 16 weeks it was all my joints and ligaments that we’re hurting so much. Was making me cry some days. And as someone who walked on a broken leg for 6 weeks, I’m not a pansy when it comes to pain.

Arrrrrgh . . . I've just spent weeks eagerly awaiting the second trimester, now I just want it to be the third!

I guess I just need to cling on to the fact that I am incredibly lucky to be pregnant and it will all be worth it . . .

I'm 14+5 and the last 3-4 weeks have been pretty horrendous with the 12th week being the worst.
I have to say, speaking to people about it I think it is really common. Friends at work are all telling me it wasn't until the 15th week that a lot of them felt better. They also all said that feeling better happened quite suddenly too so everyday I'm hoping!

I had this at 14 weeks! Rest it out. Your body needs it.

I have only started to feel like half a human at around week 16. Only half as the fatigue is still extreme — I can’t make it to 10pm without a nap in the afternoon. The ligament and bone pain is also no small deal. But overall I’m feeling better than before week 16 so I’ll take that!

devilishlygood · 01/07/2019 21:31

Like @IoMoon, I didn’t feel ok until 16wish....and I was cursing everyone who told me I’d start feeling great at 12-3w! Damn them!

Em39ma · 01/07/2019 22:11

I’m 24 weeks now and still don’t feel great.
Now started to get pelvic pain, and everything is just hard work.
It will be worth it, but it’s hell getting there

I'm 15+2 weeks and I'm feeling worse, physically and mentally, my mental health is deteriorating as I stopped my antidepressants 11 weeks ago when I found out I'm pregnant. Also living with people who say depression is a choice and to snap out of it and cheer up

RedPandaFluff · 10/07/2019 15:57

16 weeks today and still feeling bloody awful. I also feel really guilty that I don't love being pregnant as it's been such a long hard road to get here.

How are you doing, @LHMB?

RedPandaFluff I know what you mean, I'm 16+3 now and still feel awful most days. Had my 16 week appointment today, heard baby's heartbeat which was reassuring, took a little while to find it which made me panic to start with. Midwife is going to arrange some extra support as I'm struggling with my depression and anxiety and got a lot of worries going on
