Low Papp-a - induced?

I had low papp-a identified at 12 week scan, getting growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks.

I have read that low Papp-a results in being induced before or on due date, is that correct?

Probably not if the growth scans are ok. I had it 4 years ago and they didn't seem to know we what to do with the low reading. That said it is linked to higher risk of placental problems such as preeclampsia which is why I ended up being induced at 39 weeks. Are you on aspirin- worth asking your consultant about if not as it can help.

I have this too. Scans at 28 and 32 weeks showed no placental problems and baby on 50th centile. No mention of being induced early. For me it's been brilliant to have the extra peace of mind that the scans have brought. I'm also taking 75mg of aspirin a day to aid flow of nutrients to the placenta but I gather not all NHS trusts suggest this so don't panic if not.

No mention of aspirin yet (am 26 weeks). Will ask at my next scan in a few weeks. I was so surprised to get a formal letter about it and nothing more has been mentioned since. Letter sounded so serious.

No, not necessarily. I had low papp-a in my first pregnancy and did a lot of research about it - I read that 9 out of 10 low papp-a pregnancies actually turn out completely normal. I was one of those 9 out of 10 - baby fine at all scans, arrived 10 days overdue at a healthy 8lb.

I had a low pappa with my first baby I was prescribed aspirin to take daily and was given extra growth scans. My little boys growth started slowing by 34 weeks and I was induced at 37+1 he was born happy and healthy albeit a tiny 5lb3.

I have another low Papp-A with this baby and I have yet again extra growth scans. I have a section booked for 39 weeks (due to a separate issue) however my growth scans will determine whether the section will be brought forwards (being told to expect him here early) I'm on double dose of aspirin this time in hopes that his growth doesn't tail off again. fingers crossed for you I have known women with a low Papp-a go full term with very average size babies! Xx
