Hi this is my first pregnancy and I’m confused :(

I was on my period at the end of may around 28/29th may.

I’ve just taken a clear blue test which says I’m 3+ weeks pregnant but not sure if that’s correct? I’ve taken two other tests showing I’m pregnant with fainter positive lines which confirm it’s early pregnancy?

Trying to work out dates, I can’t have been pregnant prior to the 28th may as I was on a period...

Any help is appreciated

Don't go to much with the cb test it won't tell you anything much. It's just a pee stick with a chip in it, not a proper lab test. They couldn't even tell me when i was ovulating properly!

It says positive whichever way... So congratulations!

You won't really know anything accurately until they do a scan and can measure your foetus.

Thursday452poh · 30/06/2019 16:48

I’m pretty certain it’s add two weeks to the weeks you are so you’d be around 6 weeks now!

Polly99 · 30/06/2019 16:51

Sounds about right to me.

3+ weeks on CBD means you ovulated 3 or more weeks ago, based on your hormone levels. If the first day of your cycle was 28 May and you ovulated on day 14 (which is average) you’d be 2 weeks and 5 days after ovulation which isn’t far off 3 weeks.
If you ovulated a day or two earlier, or your hormone levels are a little above average ranges, then you could easily come up as 3+ weeks.
You really can’t tell great deal from non digital pee sticks other than you are pregnant.

I don’t know how the clear blue work but I’m also on my first pregnancy and it came as a surprise to find that the pregnancy weeks are counted from the first day of your last period, so on that basis 3 plus weeks would be correct?

Wesstywoo · 30/06/2019 16:53

@Emma92xo I'm also getting 3+ on mine and AF was at the beginning of June! As far as I can gather from google the weeks indicator part is a bit of a gimmick and not particularly reliable

userabcname · 30/06/2019 16:57

Yes as pp have said, don't pay too much attention to the weeks indicator. Your midwife will date you from your lmp and the 12 week dating scan will confirm your due date. Congratulations though!

I guess I’m just wondering what the max number of weeks is that I could be pregnant?

If your last period was due on 28th May and you missed it then you're coming up to nine weeks pregnant now.

What was the date of your last period? 1st May? 30th April?

You date pregnancy from the first day of your last period.

CBD can only cope with 3 + weeks - they don't give you any further information than that.

Jemima232 · 30/06/2019 17:47

Sorry - I misread everything.

Your last period was 28th May.

You are now 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant.
Trust me - I'm a midwife.

fonxey · 30/06/2019 17:51

What day did your least period start? You count from there how many weeks you are (rather than actual conception date as hard to know accurately for most people).

Then you'll have the first scan at 12 weeks, or earlier if you pay for it and test will give you a note accurate date.

My last period that i need was the 13th March i think but they actualky dated me BEFORE. Which explained a lot perhaps as my last period as i thought at the time was totally weird. It was really short, a lot lighter and came a whole week earlier than expected.

So yeah...

I spent really put a lot of faith in your test kit other than to tell you that you're pregnant. Saying that the bc digi test for me was i think accurate in that when i was 4 weeks (or what would have been 5 weeks as i jumped ahead by several days) it said i was 3+.

My other sticks were quite faint depending on brand. My cheapie ones didn't get darker until i guess 4+ weeks, cb ones were darkest from the beginning but then got even darker, Tesco ones darker than cheap but lighter than cb from the beginning.

So they don't really tell you much.

fonxey · 30/06/2019 17:53

Sorry for typos. I need a signature with a disclaimer of how bad a phone typer i am.

AllFourOfThem · 30/06/2019 17:55

It’s unlikely but some women bleed as if they are having a period or have implantation bleeding so you could be many more weeks pregnant than anyone is guessing.

Your last period might have been 4 weeks 5 days ago but if you ovulate early in your cycle you could well be 5 weeks or more, which would match the Clearblue saying 3+ weeks (since ovulation) or it could have been a bit ahead of itself because you have higher hcg levels.

Until you have a dating scan to give you an official due date, it’ll be calculated based on your last period regardless.

Emma92xo · 30/06/2019 20:30

Hi all

The reason I’m checking is because I had unprotected sex on the 11th may but there was no ejaculation, then again we had sex 8th June with ejaculation so I’m assuming it’s more likely to be the 8th but just cuts it a bit fine with the 3+ weeks...

HigaDequasLuoff · 30/06/2019 20:42

If you had a period on 28th May you would have been ovulating around 8th June so that is the likely conception date. Pregnancy is dated from first day of last period so even though that is only ~3 weeks ago you would be officially termed as nearly 5 weeks pregnant. A chemical test can't measure this exactly. Assuming a pregnancy is welcome, you'll have an initial scan in about 5-7 weeks time and they'll take measurements and give a better idea of dates.
