Reed diffusers during pregnancy?

Hi

I opened up a reed diffuser i had from a week or 2 ago, and put it in our bedroom. Its just one from The Range, a strawberry and prosecco one.. it smells really fruity and sweet lol, if anything its helping with the sickness but just wondering if that sort of stuff is unsafe during pregnancy? I cant find much on google. Havent got a midwife assigned yet, and im only 8 weeks atm. I understand certain essential oils are a no no, but just wondering about these fruity type ones

Did you ever use them during your pregnancy?

I think anyone pregnant would need to wander around with masks on if they were a problem!!

You are probably more at risk from going to The Range and standing in their car park, breathing in toxic car fumes!

Essential oils are also fine. The use of herbs and oils of herbs in poultices and syrups etc to cause a woman to miscarry is well documented in ancient history, but it’s not scientifically founded. These were hit-and-miss experiments that sometimes resulted in a termination. There are just as many stories of women who went to the witch doctor to get the ‘problem solved’ who took these ‘medicines’ only to find a healthy baby still in situ months later.

Personally I tried to avoid chemicals/artificial fragrances (pthalates? Sp? Are supposed to be bad for some reason but I forget why Confused) where possible but impossible to avoid altogether. Nausea is awful though so I completely understand wanting to do something (anything!) to ease it.

I've also avoided chemicals / artificial fragrances in my own home, it's personal choice really. Same as whether or not to dye your hair or wear nail varnish.

I don't think a midwife could advise you either way. Do your research and go with what you're happy with.

We have diffusers in the spare room (where I've escaped to on a few occasions to escape DH's snoring!) and bathrooms. I have to say it never occurred to me that they could be a problem- 27w and baby is fine. As long as you're not drinking it I can't see what the issue would be tbh, you're probably exposed to more chemicals on your daily commute to and from work.

Im sure its fine maybe just move it when your going to bed. Everything seems to be a worry when pregnant nowadays, this is my 6th and ive worried a whole lot more over silly things even tho i did them when ive been pregnant before x

There's loads on google about air freshers, diffusers, what's in them, what's harmful etc

Yes, everything does seem to be a worry these days. My last pregnancy i didnt think about all this for some reason. Thank you for your replies!! Xxx
