So confused and worried [confused]

Hi, really hoping someone can shed some light...

I have three lovely boys and we wanted to add one more to our family. Tried to conceive since last April. I’ve had three miscarriages since last September. All pretty early apart from a blighted ovum we had to end with an op cause it didn’t go on its own.

Now my last period started on the 7th May, after a chemical pregnancy from April. It only lasted three days, but anyway....

I had a positive pregnancy test on the 3rd June and also one of those digital ones on the 10th June which said I’m 3+weeks / 5+weeks pregnant.

Having had ‘suboptimal rise in HGC levels’ in the pregnancy in Sept last year, that made me be quite hopeful and we went for an early scan last Friday. They only did an external scan and said the sac is empty and it looks like a 4 week pregnancy.

According to the due date calculator at that point I would have been 6 weeks 5 days. So today I went for another scan cause I feel so nauseous and thought if it’s another blighted ovum, they can help somehow to move it along.

They said the outer scan showed nothing - but the internal scan showed a fetal pole of 2.7mm and a yolk sack, all looking ‘promising’ and ‘in good shape’. The consultant said the next scan in a week should show the heart beat.

However, because of the dates I’m really confused and worried it’s not going to have a heart beat next week - because I’m basically two weeks out of range!

I know we were trying around our mid cycle mark (22nd May), so even if you add a couple of days on, it still makes no sense to me.

Feeling like I’ve got a pregnancy brain right now, I could see this all wrong, but the app here says as well I’m 7weeks 5 days, yet the scan today puts me at 5 weeks and 5 days. Would that mean the pregnancy is not developing fast enough and will stop/end in another miscarriage?

Anyone got any ideas on this?

I think at this point you have to play the waiting game. I have a friend who conceived as soon as she miscarried and her dates made absolutely no sense. It literally seemed like an Immaculate conception so it can happen. I
So sorry you’ve been through so much and hope you get the results you want. You have to Harrass that early preg unit.

Thank you... my worry is that the dates just don’t make sense. Taking the 22nd May as the only time we had sex that fertile window (don’t laugh, busy month), we only have so and so many days to work with. To be 5 weeks 5 days now means I’d had to have a positive test less than a week after conception. Also the digital test put my HCG levels at 5+ weeks on the 10th June - 19 days ago. I guess I know too little but I’m pretty worried there is something not right with the development speed. 😐

Those digital tests seem like such a great invention but they aren’t as scientific as an ultrasound and bloods taken in a clinical setting so I think you should discount the ‘3+weeks’ business. They are inaccurate way more often than medical professionals!

You had sex on the 22 May, but that’s not to say you got pregnant that day! You likely got pregnant (speed meets egg!) somewhere around the end of May. Let’s say 27th. Positive test 7 days later on 3 Jun, which is unusual, but not impossible. All good.

Discount the 3+ HCG thing. It’s all a gimmick. It’s cruel for people like you who have suffered enough. That test confirmed that you are pregnant, that is all.

By those calculations, you would be 4w5d from conception (taking sperm meets egg day on 27 May as conception), 7w3d or thereabouts from LMP.

Sorry, realise you had 5+ w on the digital. I don’t waste my money on them so I didn’t even know they went up that far...

Very early on I was dated 2 weeks begins at an early scan and I'm now 15 weeks and bang up to date. I knew when I had conceived bang on so I was so worried but it's all fine now . Fingers crossed for you x

I ovulate on 15th of each month (30 day cycle). I had a chemical pregnancy in October. Was not actively TTC & fell pregnant in December purely because I ovulated on the 8th (completely unheard of for me). I believe miscarriages can completely mess up with your cycles. So you may have ovulated later than you thought which is why the dates are messed up. My test, for example, said 5+ weeks when I was only 2 days overdue. Quite a shock!! I hope your scan goes well for you

I know it is so hard but you need to try and focus on other things. I can completely understand your worries though. I have been a crazy obsessive mental case and googled everything and been in a panic about everything. Have you tried speaking to the doctor about getting some CBT? I have had a fetal anomaly abortion and a miscarriage and I've got a lot of trauma from that and the therapy is really helping me cope with my current pregnancy. I hope all works out for you.

I have no answers for you because when you look at my dates they also make absolutely no sense. According to my midwifes I got a positive test a few days after conceiving... point I’m making is ‘who fucking knows as long as there’s a baby’ 😂
