Hi.
Just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation...
Miscarried at 11.5 weeks in March, miscarried at 6 weeks in the middle of May, confirmed with a negative test end of May. Not had a period since the May miscarriage, and was planning on waiting to try again until after I got the first period as advised in the hospital. But over the last week maybe, I've just felt pregnant and confirmed it with a test today.

So I'm just not really sure how you count the weeks from LMP when it was a miscarriage not a typical period. And also, so incredibly nervous that this pregnancy too is going to end horribly.

Would love to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation, pregnant straight after miscarriage and it been successful really. Trying to save myself a little anxiety of waiting for the bleeding to begin.

Thanks

Hi I am in exactly the same position as you. Miscarried at 12 weeks in January. 6 weeks miscarriage in May and didn't have a period after, had a BFP earlier this month. Currently 7 weeks pregnant. I've had 3 scans already as they wanted to be sure it was new pregnancy despite me saying I had negative pregnancy tests at the end of May. And eventually saw embryo and heartbeat. So far so good. I can't give you a success story as I'm in the same boat, but I feel very positive about this pregnancy as I've always been third time lucky.

You need to contact your EPU and let them know you haven't had a cycle in between, They will have you in for a scan to see how far gone you may be, or if they can't see anything yet like they couldn't with me.. they will check your hcg levels.

Congratulations by the waySmile

Oh hi @nzs2019, congratulations to you too. Thank you for replying!
Do you mind me asking where the 7 weeks falls in terms of when your miscarriage started?
As mine started 6 weeks ago yesterday and I'd like to have a rough guess as to how many weeks I am currently before I call the EPU. I'd rather wait to call them until I know if they were to scan I will actually be able to hear/see a heart beat. I'm not sure I'm emotionally ready for them to do one and not hear anything again after the first miscarriage.

Thank you @Tobebythesea!

Honestly it makes no sense to me at all. I had mc on 7th May and given being 7 weeks exactly today going by measurements of embryo on last scan would mean I conceived about 3-4 days after mc which is impossible because I bled for a weekend didn't have intercourse. I know in pregnancy terms I probably conceived about 5 weeks ago. They say you can ovulate as early as 2 weeks after so you May well have ovulated 2 weeks after. I got my bfp exactly 4 weeks after mc on the 7th June. Went for scan a day later where nothing was seen, hcg levels were rising so went back 2 days later and gestational sac was present. A week later at 5+5 where embryo and heartbeat was seen.
I guess you can't really be sure untill you have a scan, do you mind me asking when you got your bfp and how long exactly after your mc it was?

nzs2019 · 29/06/2019 11:07

@feelinghopeful2 Sorry didn't see you had said 6 weeks yesterday, you May well be around 3 1/2 - 4 weeks pregnant. I would recommend you wait at least a week to get a scan so you can see something! Good luck🙂

feelinghopeful2 · 29/06/2019 11:45

Yeah that's what was confusing me, obviously I don't want to go until I believe I'm just over 6 weeks as that's the soonest they can hear a heartbeat I think.
Usually they count from first day of last period don't they, so maybe they're saying your MC bleeding lasted 4 days and your short period began 11th, and that's how they're counting it as 7 weeks? If that makes sense.
If they were to count mine the same way, I'd be 6 weeks on Monday 1st July. Obviously it usually varies when they scan, but just trying to get a good marker as I don't want to leave it too long as the MW around me aren't the quickest, last time I called them at 6 weeks, and they didn't see me for 5.5 weeks for my booking appointment so my "12 week" scan was booked for 14.5 weeks.
Thank you @nzs2019 for your help! Xx

Very similar here too! A MMC in November found out at the 12 week scan that the heartbeat had stopped at just over 10 weeks. A natural MC at 5+5 in March and then caught again straight afterwards with this pregnancy. I am now 14 weeks! I left it to 6 weeks before booking in with the midwife and they sent me to the epu for blood tests and scans. All has been progressing well and have been monitoring growth with scans (mix of NHS and private). Pregnancy after MC is so very hard and such an anxious time.

Congratulations and take care xx

@feelinghopeful2 how are you? Just thought I'd update. I had a scan yesterday where I thought I was 7+5 and I was actually dated 8+4! Crazy how this works to be honest but now it is using my miscarriage date as first day of last period.
Everything was well☺️

Have you contacted anyone?

feelinghopeful2 · 07/07/2019 20:42

Hi @nzs2019!
Oh gosh that must be so exciting and reassuring that you're further along than they thought, almost a week closer to being out of the first trimester!!
I'm okay thank you, had a dull ache daily pretty much since before I found out but it's not painful or sharp, so I'm hoping it's growing or something completely fine.
I called on Thursday to get a call back from the midwife to arrange my first appointment with her, so I'm praying she'll send me for a scan to ensure the pain isn't anything sinister and to see how far along I actually am. Fingers crossed she'll call back tomorrow, although last time it took her 3 weeks to even call me!!

So glad everything is going well for you! Xx

@feelinghopeful2 did your midwife get in touch?
Hope your well

feelinghopeful2 · 09/07/2019 11:28

@nzs2019 of course she didn't, I swear they can never do what they say they will! I'm going to call chasing it today I think but I feel so uncomfortable doing it but don't really have much choice - I'm not waiting 3 weeks again. I'll pay for a private scan before that! Xx

Hi again @nzs2019,
Hope everything is going smoothly for you!
My midwife finally called me back Monday after telling the receptionist that I would be complaining if I was kept waiting in the same way I was by her in February.
And she was so so rude! Basically told me I must be around 4 weeks pregnant (impressive I got a test 2.5 weeks ago in that case) but obviously the woman cannot count as she said May was only 4 weeks ago and they use the first day of the miscarriage as they would the first day of last period. I told her to my calculations that makes me just over 8 weeks and she said May was 4 weeks ago!🤨
So today I'm going for a private scan as she'll probably make me wait 8 weeks for my 12 week scan.

Sorry for ranting, haven't told many people in real life! Xx

@feelinghopeful2 wow that is a joke I fact That is impressive I definitely can't see you being only 4 weeks. That's usually when you get the positive test! May was at least 7 weeks ago. Some people are in the wrong job😕I almost feel glad that I've been consultant led this time because I feel like I've had that bit of extra care. You should ask if you could be aswell. 10weeks today and definitely feeling the normal pregnancy symptoms. Have a scan next week and the week after is my dating scan. I have had them every week but had to wait from 9wks to 11 next week. So 2 weeks without knowing! Hate it but got my positive pants on xx
